Has anyone set up a Bonneville with storage under the seat? I know Bonnie's don't have that with the stock set up, but maybe someone's managed to modify the seat for storage.

Is there a pannier rail system that would allow various hard or soft bags to be quickly mouned/unmounted? I've seen the hepco becker system, but wonder if there is a more generic system that would allow bags from various manufacturers to work.

Short of that, do you all just leave under-saddle saddle bags on the bike all the time? How difficult is it to install and remove them?

Thanks,
Mitch

Check out my photos and the Willie and Max set up on my Bonnie. I use OEM Triumph Pannier rails and standard W&M throwover bags under the seat. The bags jip off, have carrying handles so they can be used like luggage.

You can't fit much under the seat, but you can make it quickly accessible. Sargent sells a set of ball-lock pins that replace the seat bolts (you have to drill out the threads, so there's no going back) then the seat pops on and off in seconds. I keep a small flat tool roll under there with enough essentials to remove a wheel, pull plugs, change jets, tighten loose hardware etc just behind the battery in that flat area, along with a shop towel. You could probably also fit a thin waterproof windbreaker for emergencies.
If you go with K&N pod filters and cut/retain the stock airbox, you can also use the area where the stock air filter goes as a storage.

I've got one of the
Grifter boxes from NB

I carry the registration, insurance papers a couple small screwdrivers, pliers, a small crescent wrench and a little wad of duct tape in it with room for more. On the Bonnie, it doesn't stick out like it does in these photos. It's up under the tail light.
