Don't want to rub anyone up the wrong way, but had a Bonneville as a loaner for the day while my Speedy got his 500m service and a set of TORs and thought the differences were worth noting:
1) SENSATION of speed much higher on the Speedy, but often I would look down at the Bonny speedo and realise I was going a lot faster than I thought
2) How do you stay on that seat? Jaysus I thought I was flying off the back of it every time I gave it some welly..
3) Very manouverable, reckon U-turns and suchlike no problem on this bike.. Speedy would require some skill to get round as tight as the Bonny I reckon
4) Not a great impression from the sound, but it was completely stock and I'm now running TORs, which I think are great.
5) Really small.. felt my knees were going to hit my chin on a couple of speedbumps.. and I'm not huge.

Conclusion? None really. Happy with my choice, but understand the manouverability argument with the Bonnie. With the general size and the seat I did feel like I was "hanging on" a bit, rather than riding it. Otherwise, cool.

Your observations of the standard Bonnie format are completely accurate compared to my experience. You can see why so many folks opt for lower handlebars or some sort of windshield. In my case I got the N-H rearsets and SuperBars. These changes really make my bike very easy to control at speed and more comfortable in the bargain.

You forgot one - even though both are "performance dogs" on the strip - the Bonnie gets to the endline in front of the Speedy and the TBA.

Sorry Sliver.. We'll wait for ya in Jim Thorpe. :-D

Yeah. But I like the one with the yellow and black shell, not the one with the black and yellow shell...

Triumph Bonneville 790cc, 0-60 in 4.9 seconds... Woh Ho! NOT!
But faster crossing the road then those two other snappers...
