MES & I are meeting tomorrow morning (Sunday, 7-16) at 6:30 a.m. at the Shell station at the base of Angeles Crest Highway, right at the 210 offramp. The ride will go over the hill and west to Frazier Park, west from there to 33, south to Ojai, then either the coast or valleys back to LA, depending on how we hold up in the heat. Feel free to reply here, PM, or just show up. Sorry for the last minute notification, but that's how these emergency runs are.

Yeah, if I was going to Cambria I'd also want to take 166 west through the Cuyama Valley to Santa Maria. Beautiful countryside and not much traffic.
I'm looking towards September for the Ortega Hwy jam.

That's why we are doing it early. Beat the heat. With any luck we will be in fraiser park by 9a.m. going up in elevation. We'll hit the coast in the heat of the day with a little sea breeze to give us a chance to cool down before we rush it inland on the blocks.

Sleepy heads will lose out. You guys can sleep when you are dead or on the way to the hospital

I think this ride is better going west to east but in the summer that puts you inland just in time for the blast furnace.

Good planning........east to west and early. I can see that working. But the blast furnace from ventura on back would kill me. I've done the ventura freeway east on home on days like this before and it's like a hair dryer blasting in your face on hot. Like i told joeRH in his PM and you personally a few times on the last ride, youse guys gots balls ! Hope you have great time tho, and i hope you take some pics......i can look at pics w/o sweating. :-D Give em hell bro's !

Sept Ortega Jam????....tell me more, that sounds good.I bet we could get lots of San Diegans to do that one..(and there ARE lots of forum members down here,it's just a question of getting them together).
I know what ya mean about the heat Daz...I went out and about yesterday around the inland regions and sweated my butt off,so I ended up in Imperial Beach and rode up the Silver Strand to Coronado. It was so nice and cool,I turned around and rode back to IB then back to Coronado and over the Bay Bridge to home.Nice to be surrounded by water and riding the Bonnie.COOL Daddy-O :-D

yeah, as bad as it is, the coast hiway is always cool and never hot enough to be uncomfortable no matter how hot it is inland. The problem for me is GETTING there and RETURNING from there ! But i went there a couple weeks agao when it as in the 90's here and i was actually cold going up the coast with my mesh on.
