I've got about 1800 miles on mine and so far I have had to -

change the exaust and coat the headers
change the turn signals
remove the AI
remove the air box
change the handlebars
change the mirros
oh yeah, and i had to change out the tank badge for the clasisc one.

all of this and i still have to

shorten the rear fender
replace the brake light
install a big bore kit
change the carbs
lord, the list goes on and on...

NONE OF IT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!!11

:hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

That does it!! I'm trading it for a HArley

Yeah, what a piece of junk...

I was wondering the same question.

I know on sportbikes, you don't expect to go 100,000 like a car. Heck most of them are wrecked with less than 20,000 on them.

What's the life expectancy of our motors? I ride mine daily, and I wonder when I should start saving for a rebuild?

PS when it's rebuild time, she gets a ported head, a 904, and cams. No sense replacing it with the same old stuff.

I'm with you there. I have 8k miles on mine, one small oil leak at the valve cover gasket that I fixed myself.

I plan on doing the 904, cam, and head port/polish too, maybe at 12000 miles when I do the valve adjust, if I have the money.

I've had mine for two months and have put two thousand miles on it. I plan to use it as much as possible for back and forth to work (50mi round trip) because of gas prices. I'd rather spend my $ on upgrades than repairs or rebuilds (or gas for that matter).

Moderate mileage, 15K in third season now, and engine keeps running stronger.

Usual:
* Tires, went to Metzler's,
* Oil & Filter changes once a year whether it needs it or not. No oil leaks - nada. Little seepage I wipe away,
* Breaks.
* Tighten the chain, and the loose screws, nuts, and bolts, regularly,
* Usual adjustments; valves, carbs, etc.
* 46-50MPG,
* And about 30 chosen bolt-on upgrades without the "radical engine enhancements",

# But NO and NOT side-gapping plugs. Iridiums are the road. :-D

25k on mine. Leaving in the morning on a ride that should be about 5,000 miles. No issues with the bike to date.

A little over 16000 miles on my '04. No issues at all. Have changed rear tire twice, front once. Need brake pads soon. Probably due for a chain as well.

I ride 200-600 mile days fairly regularly and don't worry about the bike breaking down. It's been really good.

Thanks,
Jeff

As of today I have 40,523 miles on my '03 that I bought 3 years ago this coming Aug. 18th. It had 3162 miles on the clock when I pulled out of Dallas Tx on my ride home to South Carolina...

I've had one blown fuse and one bad front wheel bearing and that might have been caused by having the sidecar attached up in the N. C. mountains/twities!

The rest has been maint. and wear items. I ride my bonnie farly hard and it's never missed a beat... Well, that blown fuse did happen one mile from the house... But it was an easy solve and no other problems...

BTW, I know a couple of guys that have in excess of 75k miles on theirs... No major problems either....

Just do the maint. and she'll run forever...

04 standard black, bought new, now 27 months old. I've put on 57,316 km (about 43,000miles) with one very minor oil leak. My little 790 seems to be bullet proof, love her!
