Tired of searching around for that transmitter to open or close your garage door when leaving or approaching your house, or worse yet, having to get off your bike to use the control panel on the door itself? If so, I found a neat little goodie to add to your Bonny. Check this out:
Autoswitch Garage Door Opener
I’ve been using this autoswitch (positive voltage version) for about a week now and it’s worked great so far. You install it on your bike along with an extra garage door opener transmitter that you can dedicate to this purpose. The autoswitch has 5 wires you need to hook up: two get soldered to the button contacts on your garage door opener transmitter board, one goes to ground, one gets tapped to a switched 12V power source, and one gets tapped to the source of the signal you send to activate the transmitter. I accessed a switched 12-V power source right under the fuse box (I picked the horn wire to tap into). For the “signal source”, I used my rear brake light. You can find this wire right next to the rear brake master cylinder (the green & purple wire). Installed in this way, all it takes is a quick double-tap on the rear brake pedal to actuate the garage door opener! (Make sure you’re not using your front brake at the same time though, or it won’t work.) There are other ways you can connect this neat little device up too. However, I found that the approach above gave a nice compact install on a Bonny. All the wires can be collected to the right side of the battery and packaged real neatly, along with the garage door opener transmitter and autoswitch under the right side panel.
