I can't get mine to thread in! It won't even start. Just kinda sits on top of the opening and allows one turn.
Gaskets aren't the issue here, the ***** thing just won't fit to screw in.
I used search to see if anyone else had this problem and the one I found had no answer...
Anyone else have this issue?

Um, don't know what to tell you...
You're sure you've got the gasket scenario correct?
What's your ride?
When in doubt, call Brent- he'll help, replace, whatever.
I have been really pleased with mine.
No problemos.

Gaskets aren't the problem at all. It just won't start to screw in...even had a neighbor with mechanic skills try it in case I was missing something. Neither of us could get it to fit.
Guess I'll give 'em a call tomorrow and see what's up, if anything...

Good idea- Brent will be straight with you.

Maybe even more mints!

Or, is that your game...?

:-D

Have a look at the threads on the insert as the machining is done in haste. Remove the burr and it will thread fine.

Hope you don't mind my speaking up, but a burr is a defect on a thread that looks like semi-attached excess metal, and in this case getting in the way of a clean start to the mating threads. You might try a careful hand with a small jeweler's file to chase the threads and get rid of the offending burr. Use a loupe or a magnifying lens to get a better view of the action. You don't want to replace one problem with another.

Had the same problem when I first went to put mine on last year. It starts hard but once you get it going it goes on fine.

It may likely have some type of imperfection in the thread which a little quick filing should fix.

I installed that cap a few months ago. I do recall it is a bear the get started. I used the 2 brass bolts, with a pry bar inbetween them, (a small prybar), and smeared neversieze on the tank threads. Its a really tight fit so it will not turn out when you take out the little cap to fill her up.
