I've never ridden a Triumph before, but while shopping I fell in love with a 2003 America with only 2900 miles. I love the feel and ride. Anything I should be concerned about with this line? Did I make a wise purchase, or a rash impulse buy I'll regret later?

Phew. It felt "right" so I wasn't too worried, but it's always nice to hear confirmation.

I'm contemplating getting a sissy bar to cart the wife around. Is there a good site to get after market accessories, or should I just order from the dealer? Unless, of course, I can find a picture of one and don't like the look. Then she's just going to have to hang on.

:-D

Excellent purchase, Triumph branded accessories are pricey. Check out www.newbonneville.com many people here are very happy with the service and merchandise. Check out the other sponsors of the site.

There are a couple of chronic issues with the bike. One is the paint may chip around the gas cap, the other is brake rotors may warp. Both are easily remedied if the bike is under warrenty. Follow the PM schedule, keep her clean and she will treat you well.

Congrats, you got the second best Bonnie :-D (I'm ducking! I'm ducking!)

Enjoy the ride and don't borrow trouble. There are NO significant issues with Bonnevilles. There are niggling problems, as with any bike. Many ride for thousands of miles with no problems at all. You have an '03 so most of those little things should have already cropped up and been solved by the prior owner. Remember the song?: "Don't Worry! Be Happy!!"

You too.

Congrats. I have had my 2005 America for 1 yr., 10,000 miles. No problems, no brake warping, and I'm hard on the brakes. I didn't test ride mine or anything. As soon as I saw it, I bought it. Best thing I've ever done. What color is yours?

Bought my '02 in '03 with 1,200 miles. Bike now has 16,000 miles and my repairs have been:
$7 - sprocket gasket
$11- starter relay

You'll love the bike. A fellow America owner and I test rode some new Triumph's including the Rocket III and new ST last week. On the way home, we both concluded nothing was as comfortable to ride as our America's.

Welcome!

my 2005 america is a GREAT bike. 5000 plus miles and no problems. i ride it to work, with the rat pack, and have rode with a lot of other types of bikes. she will run with all of them and you will have a lot of enjoyment rather than drinking coffee in the waiting room like several other brands. the only problems i have seen. if your not a mechanic, don't mess with her. get on an ride ride ride.
