I am trying to decide between getting the speedmaster and the america. is it worth the extra money to get the speedmaster with the bigger engine and less horse power? I guess I just want some of you to give me your opinion on the two bikes.

The speedmaster had more torque and at a lower RPM. The america has more HP. The speemaster has cast wheels, a tach, and dual front discs. The america has spoked wheels, a single front disc and no tack.

For me it was the SM because i wanted the mags and tach and dual discs and thought it was a cheap upgrade considering to buy all that would cost probably 3-4 times the difference in price between the SM and america.

It's not something anyone can tell you, it's too subjective. Just consider whether you want the speedmaster's extras and whether you're more a fan of a low down torquey engine or one with more HP. But don't expect a huge difference. I think the overall look is what ultimatly draws people to one or the other. For me, tho i liked the entire package, the the mags were probably the one thing i did not want to be w/o.

I purchased the America because I loved the wheels. Performance wise it hauls my fat backside along with my wife's smaller through the hills of eastern PA without any trouble. I'm fine without a tach, and never had a problem stopping. I think you need to decide which look you like better. If you don't like cleaning spokes then get the SM. If you don't mind cleaning spokes then get the America. It looks awesome when it is clean and shiny.

I was trying to decide between the America and the Speedmaster also. I decided on the America and used part of the $500 incentive to put the tach in. I like a tach and the bonus $ allowed me to add it at no cost. By the way, the America was a great choice, but I doubt you could go wrong with either.

I refuse to tell you how many add-ons and replacements I've made on my TBA! But I love it.

Some folks balk a bit at the foward controls, but they have always felt natural to me.

Either way, you win.

I'm with Daz, the Speedy is a little more but LOOK AT IT:

IT'S FRIIICKKKKIIIINNNN BAAADDDDAAASSSS!!!!!
And you can make it even BAAADDDDAAASSSER(My new word)

The decision was not very hard for me, The torque of the Speedy is very evident.

But no matter which one you decide on I'm sure you'll be ecstatic.

So have fun and Keep The Dirty Side Down.

Spanky.

I think I will most likely go with the speedmaster. Youve got me convinced. I like the tach, handle bars and engine better. The difference in price was the only thing making me wonder.

Have any of you been able to haggle much on the price? I know the $500 in accessories is a good deal anyhow. Anything I can get off the 8699 pricetag would be nice.

You will friggin love it ! I just came back from lunch with a friend and i showed up at his house and he's seen the bike many times but once again he starts in with how awesome it looks and why would anyone buy a HD after seeing this and all that sorta stuff. The people who have an eye for this type of bike just go wacko when they see it. The other day a guy walks up and tells me about 10 times how gorgeous it is. Some people don't see it quite that way tho, it is subjective. Anyway, you'll be glad to went with it after you buy it. It really sinks in more how awesome it is when you get it home.
