I wish the Speedy was in the TBA...

But I'm holding out for the new 1200 or is it now 1700cc model version...

Both nice bikes, but with slightly different ergonomics. In addition to considering which features you want/are willing to forego, spend some time sitting on each to see which better fits your physique and riding style. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hi guys,

Any thoughts on how the Speedmaster will feel as a 1st bike?
It would be an Awesome first bike, its very easy to ride, balance is excellent, corners like on rails, and has a low center of gravity so holding it at stops is cake.

The power is very easy to control, and as you mature in your riding experience there is many modifications you can do to increase performance as well as looks.

Enjoy.

Spanky.

I went with the America over the Speedy because I knew I would want the chrome on the engine, & I liked the classic look of spokes. I added a tach & drag bars for much less than it would have cost me to add the extra chrome.
Having the dual disks is one option I would have liked to have from the Speedy . The price is a bit high for that upgrade.

In the end, it won't matter.... You'll LOVE either one......

Hey Dardoonk.

I remember that beautiful green America from the day you bought it. I was the guy getting the Bonnie. I am now thinking of switching from the Bonnie to the Speedy as I want to do longer trips possibly. Maybe it is just me but long trips (with lots of highways) would not be as friendly on the Bonnie, even if I get the revs down with an extra tooth on the front.

Not sure quite yet, but thinkin' bout' it.

Spanky,

I did not consider a speedy at all until I saw your pics! I am about 200lb, 6' (good shape too!). So far, I want to get one of the following:

- Scrambler
- T 100
- Speedy

Thruxtons looked good too until I sat on one. I am more of a laid back dude than a racer

Hey Vitality, any of those bikes would be very cool but, while I think the Scrambler is Bitchin and would love to have one, it would have to be a second bike. Let me tell you that I do weigh about fifty pounds more than you, and the Speedy pushes my big A$$ pretty good and I'm on a diet and working out just to make go faster. The Trux is pretty BAAADDDAAASSS too and there in lies the dilemma. Speedy or Thux, my back decided on the Speedy.
And I love it .

good luck, happy hunting (did you look at the Rocket III?)

Spanky.

Thanks for all your input. I think I will probably go with the Speedmaster. If I went with the America I think I would always wish I got the Speedmaster. Anyway, Saturday will be the big day.

I am wondering about how much I can plan on spending on it. What are the extra costs above the regular MSRP and tax? Could somebody give me a ballpark on the extra fees?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi,

I have one more question: Is there a difference between speedies and americas in terms of breaking? Speedies have dual disks on front; what is the real life benefit of that. Does it stop that much faster?
