So I'm out putting around on a beautifu Sunday and stop for a bowl of soup. It's an outdoor area with the bike close by. This lovely young lady is slowing her pace to gaze at my speedie and looks over ( only guy with bike gear )and with a smile, says; What year is it ? I smile and say '52. She says it looks like new ! I said, oh, you mean the bike.

Now that "come-on" i HAVE to remember..! ;-) It'll work good here in Switzerland (German part) since when you want to know a person's age you ask them what year they are (birth year). Kind of like a classic, I'm a '56 (50yrs old)

Geez... all I got today was a 60-something year old Quebecer when I parked next to his pickup at the local Honda dealer. (Don't worry... just lookin at the helmets). Of course he didn't know they were back in production and then he regaled me with tales of his two 1969 Bonnies - all in rather poor English - till I managed to slip away. Still... kind of nice.

If everbody who says "I had a '72 Bonneville" really had one, there would have been millions on the road in 1972!! It"s kinda like..."I was at Woodstock"

I had a sheriff pull me over about 4 weeks ago when I was riding the Thrux. Thought i was speeding, got out the paper work, he said he just wanted to look at the bike -- that was nice, no ticket.

He asked me what year it was, so I said 'Its a 2004", his reply was: "No, not when you started restoring it, but what year is the bike?", I repeated 2004, and then told him it is supposed to look look like the old Bonnevilles.

At least I didnt get a ticket, and he was a nice guy.

It's kind of evil, but I've followed or tracked down so many Triumph's to run their license plates (as a local constable, myself) on my MDT (computer in the car) to find out what year they are and for the opportunity to find out if the owner is a local to my area or not! I found a black and red 2006 T100 yesterday while at work and had to do a double take! I then walked up and checked it out for mods and got the plate to find out if it was a local... but, alas, from Everett and not my city!

I like it too! I was out for nice ride with 2 neighbors Sat-1 on new Tiger & other on older Intruder, when we are stopped for gas a fella walks past the other bikes to ask the usual
questions about the Bonneville!
Usually I'm by myself when this happens & it happens a lot!
