I think it may have been Dazco who had some great idea for cleaning cases, but I forgot. Anyhow, what's the best product for cleaning cases?

The product with the fine, sopisticated name "Pig Snot" is excellent. S100 (or is it S200) makes a great product also. These are not cleaners per se, but rather are brighteners specifially for black out motors. Much the way Amourall isn't really a cleaner. You don't wash with this stuff, you apply it afterward.

I had a Harley-Davidson FXDX (Dyna Super Glide Sport) which had a nearly identical flat black engine and exhaust. The sun and dust would fade the black coloration to give the engine a dull appearance. However, Harley-Davidson dealerships sell a spray can of some type of engine restorer that is only to be used on flat black painted surfaces. This stuff made my FXDX look brand new. Sorry I cannot recall the exact name of the spray can, but a Harley store would know what it is. Give it a try.

I gotta try that pig snot. I don't know if it's in my mind, but the pledge seems to not be working as well as i did, and i think it has to do with the paint aging. It doesn't seem to stick to it like it used to. Maybe it's because i don't usually clean them, just pledge em, and the dirt id mounting up. Guess i should to the hose and soap bit, but i hate cleaning bikes with water like you do a car. But i gotta try that snot stuff and maybe back to black too. maybe the snot would work best on the engine and the back to vlack might be better on the frame and plasitc bits. But geez........i have so frigging many bottles of various detailers waxes and such i hardly have room left in the locker for anymore, literally !

I use WD40 on my black engine. WD40 to black engine is as Armor All is to vinyl seats. It does a great job making the engine look showroom shiny! Plus, WD40 is cheap and easy to find and you get a nice smoke effect at red lights during the first ride after cleaning.

well, in another thread someone, i forget who said something to the effect of i've tried em all, and trust me, get some mothers back to black. he convinced me with that remark so i tried it and it lived up to his description. Great stuff, better than pledge tho similar. It covers easier and more evenly. Only longevity remains a question, so i shall see. But unless is disappears in a few days i'll be using this stuff for now on. fantastic for the black engine.
I wanted to try WD40 too, but i'm suspicious of what that might do over time to the paint. It's cheap, but then even tho BTB is $6 it only takes a very small amount, so in the long run it's plenty cheap. I estimate a year easily out of a bottle, but probably much more.
Oh, and it worked better than anything i've tried so far on the speedy seat. Got rid of some marks that i couldn't get out before.
