Have an 06' Thruxton with factory off road pipes and Air Injection removed. Before I go any further, what all needs to be done to get this thing up on power??? I am looking to get 140mph at least on top end. Is this achievable??? Will 90-100Hp do it??? Anything and everything is possible for me---money is no object. This Triumph thing is new to me. Had HD's before and lots of mods and money in them!!!!! Thanks and move this to a different forum if it does not belong here. L8TR!!!

To get the most out of your engine, contact the guys at South Bay Triumph. Remember though that when your done with the engine, you still have a Thruxton chassis. If you really want to be riding at high speed constantly, and you want to do it on a Triumph, you should consider buying a Daytona 675. At least that's what I think. Dan

Hey I knew I would get a laugh or two---that's OK

Like I said this is a new "creature" for me and I would like to know what kind of HP can you make with these 900's without going way deep into them??? Also I would not be riding up at that kind of speed very often and most likely in a straighline situation only. BUT it would be nice to hang with the smaller "crotch" dudes if that were possible on the flat. I hope I am not sounding like a total idiot here :???: I am getting about 115MPH on it now. I would say that the speedo is probably off by 5-10mph at that speed---probably not going over 105. Will check it with a GPS this week. I have been known around these parts to " make a brick fly" with enough time and money!!! I just got my 03" Duramax GMC to 624Rear WHP on the dyno this weekend!!!!

Well if money isn't really a problem then check out
British Customs, they have a few interesting products like a big bore kit (904 I think, you can get bigger if you search a bit) hot cams, ported heads, valve train upgrades, the works, I'm not sure what kind of hp gains you can get with the whole kit but it will definitely give you a good kick in the a$$ above stock, also airbox mods and some nice slip on exhaust (mototwin SS reverse, D&D, or Predator are the favorites), beyond that check out the guy here running a bonne with a turbo, 100+hp there

Consider adding a turbo. Here's a link to Jojje's website. He has built the world's fastest Bonneville, just did 1/8 mile in 5.85 seconds. Jojje' website He lives in Sweden.

Here is a link to a more local outfit which also produce turbo kits for the Bonnie, Turbo Connection, I don't see why the kit won't fit a Thrux.

If you really want to go 140mph you will probably need to raise the rev limit (Jojje can reset it to anything you want, but for legal reasons he doesn't work on American rev limiters, so it needs to be sent from another country).

And you will also have to play with the gearing. sprocketspecialists.com make custom sprockets if you want.

Good luck and let us know if you get her up to 140.

Realistically, I've heard with the 865cc motor you can do a port/polish of the heads, and swap the cams out with some aftermarket cams and expect mid 80hp at the rear wheel.

Don't know what top speed would be, but it'd be a lot more power than the (probably) 60 horse at the wheel stock.

If money is no object just tell me how fast you want to go and I'll build a bike for you.
I think you need 120hp to go 140mph, that's what my street Bonnie has (turbo EFI)

Buy a Hyabusa and forget doing 140 on the Thrux-keep it for sane riding.

The consensus seems to think the engine needs more horsepower but I have always been one to hear a different drumbeat.

Change your drive sprocket to a 17 tooth for about $20. Open up the exhaust strangulation and ler 'er rip.

I bought a new Trident in '74 and it would regularly run out at 140mph. Changed the rear sprocket to one slightly smaller and opted for a good exhaust system and ran over 150 many times. I didn't rely on the speedometer but timed my runs between highway mile markers, usually 5 or 10 miles at a stretch.

This was usually done between Las Vegas and Utah where the traffic is sparse and the highway patrol stays busy between LV and California.

The point is: this was a 742cc bike that is considered to be heavy as Triumphs go.

I still have a Trident, not the same one but I wish.

BTW, a motorhome tooling along at 60 comes up like a brick wall when you're gaining on it at 150.
