Can anyone recommend a riding jacket that looks similar to a regular jacket. I'm looking for a non leather summer jacket with some protection is case I go down.
No offense, but all the mesh jackets I've looked at are too disco for me. I like plain clothing and all the jackets I've seen have logos all over and ridiculous stripe patterns. I can't remember the brand, but I saw one riding jacket that looked similar to a dickies work jacket. I could handle that.

Thanks, Aaron

Speedrag makes Streetfighter and Falcon jackets that look like ordinary jackets but have CE armor and pads. Their web site has been under constructions for a few months though--don't know what that means.

I don't like mesh either, but i bought one and i really can't imagine a regular looking jacket that will stay cool anywhere near them. When moving it's just like not having a jacket on at all. I know thats not the answer you wanted and maybe someone will dispute it. But mesh jackets are a material that is like wearing a screen, and w/o that i can't see how airflow could be nearly as much with any material thats not do open. There are some that don't have all the colors and patterns too. I bought a Joe Rocket that has very little of that and i've seen them blowing them out online for as little as $30, original price around $120.

That said however, the one thing i'm having a hard time dealing with is the feel of having a jacket that feels like i'm wearing chainmail sans the weight. I still haven't determined how much if at all i'll be wearing it. Thats my problem with them, tho as i said there ARE mesh jackets w/o all that dumb looking design BS.

I found a mesh jacket at Cycle Gear locally that isn't of a "boy-racer" design. Well, in it's black form anyhow. It has a removeable windbreaker/maybe rain retarding liner. Even in 100F temps, it's fairly comfortable once you get to 30MPH. It looks very similar to a leather riding jacket, in real life rather than the picture I found here:

I got this jacket last Christmas and LOVE it. It doesn't look like your "typical" motorcycle jacket, has plenty of venting, and really good armor in the shoulders, back, and forearms/elbow areas. And you can zip off the leather sleeves if it gets REALLY hot, but I haven't done that.....

I picked up a First Gear Mesh Tex 3 recently and love it. I got in red to increase visibility. Other than that it's not too "disco" not to be confused with Dazco. :-D

yo bro , thats it! it even comes in black denim,
I kid you not , this jacket is better than my 450$ hein Gericke jacket
my wife even freaks out over it, saying how can they manufacture it for that price!
never gets too hot. many perfect pockets,
and it is not some weird profiling jacket.
Rode behind some guy yesterday with a vest that had an american falg on it with " try and burn this*****" underneath.
had to blow by him just to get away from it

+1 on the Cortech denim jacket. Great fit, cheap price. I went to look at one and came out with a new Cortech GX Air mesh jacket. Like it way better than my FG mesh. And hey, it's black with white accents, matches the Bonnie for those stylish Starbucks visits. :-D
