Twin talkers, I'll try you now. I tried Club Cafe but only 1 reply.

I installed the airbox removal kit Saturday with only minor problems (now I know why the exhaust pipes have to come off). However, there seems to be an extra hose that does not terminate anywhere. I put the filter on the crankcase hose as per the instructions, but there is another one that went into the top of the airbox. I think it comes out of the fuel tank area. The bike performs beautifully but I'm still wondering what to do with the hose. Any ideas?

Did you remove your air injection system. It has a hose that connects to your old air box.

Like he said; Sounds like the AI. Have you gotten the AI Removal Kit to eliminate that?

Yes, that was the first thing I did when I got the bike. I'll check it tonight. I'll be mighty embarassed if both ends are open, and the hose is just sitting there!

OK, I took a look and it definitely has to do with the AI. There is a unit on the bottom front of the fuel tank that has 3 hoses coming out of it. Here is a picture:

The 2 outside hoses go to the units beside the spark plugs. The center one used to go to the airbox. Here is how it terminates now:

My questions now are:
1) Did the dealer actually remove the AI since there is still a hose connected to each side.
2) Can the hose that terminates by the air filters simply be removed?

TIA, Ken

Since you have the NARK, opt. to remove all of your AI system. Remove fuel tank for ease of AI removal. Very easy to do. Be careful when removing the AI system, you might want to reinstall if you sell your bike later on. Must purchase & install plugs where injectors have been removed.

I looked at your pics and your AI is definetly in place. With your air box mod, did you rejet to compensate ? You can pickup a couple of oil drain plugs and vac cap and plug or cap that hose. You may as well dump the junk the hoses are going to as well. Have you done the pipes ?

Lose the AI,
I wouldn't ride it without some sort of filter or cap on the end of the AI Inlet hose.
It could suck dirt into the motor.

Like others have said, remove the AI system. The cost of the AI removal kit is pennies compared to the cost of the NARK.

One suggestion on your NARK install. I had problems with the crankcase filter in the location shown in your picture--it rubbed a hole in the carb air filter! Also, it is in a poor place for getting caught in the rain...it is higher than where the tube goes into the motor case. I purchased some additional hose, clamps, hose to hose connectors; and ran the breather hose under the rear engine mount, up over the NARK carb brace and down a couple of inches... it is behind the carb air filters now and upside down. Water can run all over it and cannot get into the hose!

At least one other asked about your silencers. I hope you are not running stock silencers. IMHO, you need much freer flowing silencers to run the NARK. Newbonneville should have sent you the proper jets (for your setup) to get you in the ballpark. You will still have to do some refinement to get the jetting "just right." Dyno with EGA is a good, quick way to do this.

Thanks for all the info. I have the TORs on the bike. When I got the bike (used) they were on already. The bike did a lot of backfiring so I had the dealer rejet the bike. However, when I took the bike in to be dynoed before installing the NARK, they said that it was running so rich it maxed out on the graph. The tech figured that it might be correct jetting onceb the NARK is in. I have another appointment this Friday to get it dynoed again. I will bring the jets that came with the NARK and make sure it is jetted right.
