Was traveling home Sunday from a weekend motorcycle event. It was a three hundred mile ride and for the last 90 miles I let my buddy ride since he was bikeless for the weekend. Both of his bikes were in various states of disassembly for new parts, modifications etc... Now I have had plenty of the compliments we hear so much of on this board; "nice bonnie, what year is it?". But my friend paid a really nice compliment I had not heard before. After we got back to my house he said he really loved the bonnie and it was a "little hotrod" that he could really get himself into some trouble on. He's very knowledgeable about bikes and one of his is an 1800 VTX that is hotrodded to the max with performance parts including a NoS system. I knew my bonnie was a blast to ride, I just never thought "hotrod". Was a nice compliment. And by the way, from the vantage point of the car 70 or 80 feet behind my bike I got a very good dose of how loud my D&D's really are. Holy cow!

Cool....Its always nice to get a compliment from someone whose opinion matters to you.
Also nice to see your bike on the road, only problem with riding it yourself is you can't properly see it. I am a sucker for plate glass windows downtown stor windows, I will probably dump the bike someday looking at myself in the glass!!
I had it in at the dealer the other day for a funny noise (turns out its just a worn chain, parts and tools are on the way!) and I watched the service guy ride it in the parking lot......These bikes are a work of art in motion, really cool, almost alive.

Yeah - and we seem to get all the notice too. I was in Looe (SE Cornwall, UK) on Sunday - lots of sharp bikes - ansd some Harleys too :-) but my T100 was the one with the crowd round it!

It's odd...... I really like the 'look' of a Bonnie being ridden. When I ride with other Bonnevilles, I can't get over how classic and timeless the riders look on their bikes. I especially like those that have the riders in a semi-café position. I have a video of me riding my new BonnieBlack on a twisty road.... D&D's-a-barking! Aside from MY fatass hanging over the seat, the bike looks good......!
And "loud" pipes.....? I have home made pipes with fish tail tips, and I doubt I will be asked to join the sport-bike riders I joined this weekend. My bike is admittedly obnoxiously loud, Loud, LOUD! I'll be posting pictures soon of a similar conversion using my recently ceramic coated D&D's. I'll never have to repack them, and though loud..... they won't be as obnoxious as the sound amplified through fish tails.
It's funny, put some time in the saddle of a Bonnie with pipes.... and it's hard for anything else to bring the same kind of smile to one's face.

I rode behind one of my Bonnie buddies on our "Sunday morning ride", me on my S-3 and he on his Bonnie with a set of megaphones (DUB's-loud pipes!). I was almost deaf by the time we got to my turn off, and I am going to put my TORS on my T100 just for a while to tone it down some. I did not realize how loud those pipes were. My D&D's are just about as loud if not more loud than his system. It was an offensively loud bike. I never rode behind one before and will not again if i can help it. Not cool even though I love it myself, when I am riding my T100.
oops-BUB exhaust ?

Hahahaha!
I KNEW I wasn't the only one who did this.
Worse still, every time I check out my reflection that quote from the movie Anchorman echoes in my head: "I look gooood. Hey everybody! Come see how good I look."
The I laugh at my own vanity and hit the gas.
:-D

Oh man I do that too! I even know where the best windows are in Downtown Austin.
My favorite is when the pipes echo off the buildings AND you can see your reflection in the windows!
Alleys are cool too. I like when people check out the bike as you're getting on it, then they jump a foot when it cranks up (loud!).

I had D&D's on my 05 T100 and my "Harley" friends asked me to ride behind them. We swaped bikes and I found out why they felt that way.

Don't have the big pipes but I live in the land of Harley Davidson aka Daytona Beach. And I get head turns from every biker I ride past. The world is full of cookie cutter bikes world wide. I love riding my bonne and I love the ride it give's me.
The attention is a extra smile.
