All,

I finally got around to cleaning off all the factory bolt paint on my new T100 when I came across this "hole." It has a shine mark around it where some bolt/washer scraped it clean, but it isn't threaded and only an inch deep.

I know this is probably obvious to most/all of you, but I was wondering what it is...

Thanks and happy Memorial Day to my fellow Veterans.

Semper Fi,
Hitch

Alignment pin for an install jig? Or maybe from riding on the assembly line?

There is a plastic doo-dad on the wires that go to the sensors in the engine covers on the right side, it is supposed to plug in there to hold the iwres in place...It doesn't work well, though! Mine is always falling out.

Like Copper says,a plastic wiring clip. A dab of caulk will keep it in place.

OK,

But I'm not seeing anything that would plug into it...all the wires are neat and tucked away behind the side cover. Maybe the dealer did this because of the problems aforementioned?

Thanks Again,

I think it is a mounting hole for something to do with FI when it is installed on the bikes in the near future...like next year or 08.
Time will tell.
It, the hole was not there on the 04's and before, something to think about.

Cooper is right. A plastic clip that holds some wires snaps into that hole. The wires come out of the back of the right side engine cover, go up to that clip, then continue up and disappear into and behind the airbox area.

I don't see any wires that would need to be routed down to that location.

Maybe the picture orientation is confusing, note the location of the oil filler cap to the right...

Yes, as others have said, it's for a wire clip. Mine always comes out. The shot of caulk is a good ideal.

While I was waiting on my murdercycle's 500 mile checkup at the dealer, I was bored and I compared a 2005 Black Bonnie to a 2006 Black Bonnie. I noticed that the 2005 had the wires described above, routed above the engine where that platic wire-guide would snap in that vacant hole. The 2006 (and my own 2006) however, have the wires routed under the engine and around the cover below the sprocket cover and are maintained in place by a metal clip near the sprocket cover. The wires are going under the bike near the oil filter and back up via the rear wheel mud-guard. The vacant hole on my bike does have a black plastic filler though.
