Greetings,I am new to this site but so far it seems cool.A month back I traded in an old BMW on a Thruxton I have been lusting after for a while.I love the Triumph and have made a few mods to it(TORS,Tommiselli adj. clip ons,air injecection removal, old school taillight,etc..)thing is the gas mileage sux @ around 31 to 35 mpg,it's only got 2k on the clock and I guess it might get a little better as it loosens up but I find this bike comfortable and well suited to solo 2 to 3 day trips and find the only downside is switching to reserve after 90 miles.I have not completely ran it out fuel yet but I bet I couldnt get 120 miles max out of a tank.I usually stick to two lane back roads(and some gravel!)on my little excursions and I know I'll run it dry some day.I guess my question is aside from modifying the stock tank or adding an auxilery fuel cell what can be done,is the speedmaster tank bigger? will it fit on a thruxton?Any advice will be appreciated, just dont tell me go slower!

My friend got a black and red bonnie last October and his mileage has gotten better and better....he would sometimes have to flip to reserve @80 miles whereas my broken-in bonnie would run till around 125 before reserve, now his runs about the same as mine......just monitor your usage each tank and I think you'll find it starting to improve.

I have an 02 T100.
I usually fill up at 125 miles but I have ridden it 'til I hit reserve.
It's never hit reserve at less than 150 miles; on one occasion it hit reserve at 165.
I usually ride solo and have a 19 tooth sprocket installed.

I think the cam profiles or lift are different on the thruxton engines maybe resulting in higher fuel consumption,I dont really know.I bought the thruxton for the better front brake and more adjustable suspension and it was the same price as the t100 (@The Euro Shop in Waco,TX)but hopefully the mileage gets better with age.I have thought about taking the tank to a chopper/rat rod fab shop and having it made a little wider,I don't want it to look like it came off a harley though!Thats really what got me thinking about the Speedmaster or Bonnie America models and whether the capacity is greater and the mounts are the same,it would be nice to just swap tanks with another Triumph model if any of 'em hold more fuel

You may get a slightly different tank range with a Thruxton. As the engine is slightly modified I think?

My standard 2003 (800cc)Bonneville has done from fill up to the reserve point:

Worst: 140 miles

Best: 170 miles

Then it was over to reserve, on the 170 miler I did not push the engine and kept to speeds at or below 60mph.

If my calculations are correct i was getting nearly 60mpg at best.

Have a new T100 and have been concerned about the mpg. Been getting about 37 around town. Just did first oil change yesterday so am glad to hear that potential for improvement as she breaks in. Did about 80 miles yesterday combo hiway and town and got just over 40. This was before oil change.

I appreciate this thread, as we are starting to go out on longer rides and I don't want to get caught offguard. I usually top the bikes off at the house before we go out for a ride, but not just for my ride to work. I figure I should have at least 4 miles worth of gas on the reserve and I can get more after work if I have to switch to reserve. Anxious to see what other 790cc T100 owners are experiencing.

For those who have the gas range "Woes me's", and just don't wanna get off to fill'er up;

On my T100, I gets 149+/- miles before gurgling to reserve. I'd like to either put in a second spigot petcock to get at the gas on the other side, or design a self leveling cross-over jig to drop in the tank and forget it. Hum. Should I patent that idea? Two pieces of hydraulic brake line ends and neo fuel hose...

My first full tank went 122 before reserve. I drove it pretty gently during break-in, but now I'm riding a lot harder, so over the weekend I took note of mileage.
With a fly screen, and a brokin in engine, I now get....
122 before reserve..
I expected some change, but I guess I am eating up more fuel because I'm on it more. O well

I CAN NOT figure this Bonnie out!

Even though it produces less horsepower than bikes in my recent past, it GOBBLES up the rear tire in only 5,000 miles?!?!?!?! WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

And gas mileage?!
"Weird" That's all I can say about that. Sometimes it really sucks, and other times it'll return over 50 mpg??????!

For the most part, regardless of the various mod's I've done, I have to go on reserve pretty consistently (save for those "weird" occasions) between 115 and 122 miles.
