The painting is done! Half of my week off is shot. And its raining. And we are leaving in an hour anyway for a four day weekend ride to the south of Columbus: Hocking Hills, Hillsboro, Tar Hollow, etc. Taking Sue's trusty Virago and my old Nighthawk 550. The windscreen from Clearview for the Bonnie is not here yet (bummer)and I want some protection from the rain on the way down.

So I won't be around to harrass you all until Tuesday. Are you lucky, or what??

Take care,

Monte

PS: Pray that the deer stay in the woods where they belong! (I still remember 11 months ago on a similar expedition.)

Why dont you rig up a tarpaulin over your Bonnie? That way it keeps the rain off it and you can enjoy riding it as well as keep it and yourself dry

I know you are already out on the road as I write this, but know our thoughts are with you and Sue as you tour...

My wife mentioned today that she might be interested in making the run in July. Shocked me to hear her say that unprompted...

Take care, my Buckeye Brother and Sister!

Hi, Guys and Gals. Temps were to be in the mid 90s today (and are!) so we were up at 6:30 and headed back at 8 this morning and got home about 11AM.

It was a great trip. About 620 miles altogether. Sue and I hooked up with "euro-rider" and his wife, (AKA Dustin and Jessie) who live in Circleville, by email via triumphrat.net, and they came to the motel Saturday morning bright and early and took us on a neat 110 mile tour of some of the great roads in the Hocking Hills, that we would not likely have found without them! Thanks much, you two!! Hope you can make the July 8th ride up here!!

Riding down Friday it was spitting off and on and not too bad. We had on our Nitro rain suits and some sealskin socks in our boots and I was commenting to Sue at one stop that these were great rain protection: it hadn't really rained. Should have kept my mouth shut! Between Lancaster and Circleville we ran into the mother of all thundershowers. Five minutes of riding on the side of the road about 20-30 mph and getting drenched by the cages passing on the highway like it wasn't raining. If there had been ANY turnoffs we would have, but that stretch was nada. So on we trecked. At first side road we stopped, wiped out our glasses, shields, etc and were ready for more. So the sun came out! With the sun and heat we were dry before we hit the motel. Not bad.

The rest of the time we rode 85-120 mile "loops" in all directions from Chillicothe. Nice. Good roads. Pretty hilly country.

Hated to come back, but work beckons. Glad to be with you all again.

BTW: saw several deer but they all stayed where they belonged. Coming home a blackbird flew up from the side of the road and killed himself on my helmet. Felt bad about the bird, but better for me a bird than a deer!!

Hi Monte! Glad you and Sue had a nice trip. I thought of you on our ride Saturday - two of the silly animals on the roadsides. Boy, has it been 11 months already?

Thanks for the kind thots, folks. Even Casper! I like his idea and will try to lasso four lads down at the local tavern who prefer to ride the stuff produced by The Motor Company to run along side and hold up the tarp. They claim they are tough. This will prove it.

Yes, Mare. Eleven months. The "deer event" was on Sue's birthday! June 24. A day which will live in infamy, or some such.

It was good to go but it will be good to sleep in our own bed tonight. What is it about sleeping in your own bed that is so neat? (Hush, now, you young bucks. I know. I know. But don't say it!)

So its good to be home, and home includes back here.

Glad you two are back, and that the deer were blackbirds this time! Looking forward to meeting you fellow Buckeyes in early July down south in New Philly.
