let me first say, I usually dont engage in street racing....but here I was minding my own business, pulling up to a light on the t-100, when a guy on a sportster pulls up next to me...and raps his pipes at me. why'd he hafta go and do that? I was not really comited to a race but when the light changed, he went hard, so a split second later so did I.
long story short, stock bonne beats stock sportster-hands down
hey, he rapped his pipes at me

Was it a 1200 or an 883 Sportster?
That must have been Lee Marvin and you were playing out Marlon Brando :-D

Hey...a rap of the pipes is like a glove across the face.
You had to defend your honor.

I like to end those little street races with the ol' "single digit" checkered flag.

I'm pretty sure it was the 883 sporty. thats fair, against 865, methinks. the sprty looked and probably was, quite a bit heavier.

I had a similar tale from my youth but it wasn't on the bike rather in my car. Sitting at a red light and a guy pulls up along side of me. I take my foot off the brake and the car rolls back a foot (on slight incline) so I ease it forward again. He does the same but revs up the motor and nearly leaves a patch pulling up his foot too. Ok, time to get a bit more aggressive on my part. My fingers grip the steering wheel tighter as I look over my shoulder at him and I rev my motor up and do my little backward/forward rock.
Well finally the light turns green and the other guy's car lays down two black stripes as he dumps it. I jerk my foot off the brake and in mid flight on it's way to push the gas to the floor I go into slow motion. My foot touches the gas peddle giving it my all to look like grandma on her way to the grocery store as I drive through the intersection. I have no idea why I did that but no more than 200 yards later a cop flew past me with lights and siren blasting on the tail of the other guy..!!!
I thank my lucky stars I was clairvoyant that day..

Don't worry old F**ts can see the 'red mist' from time to time. The blood begins to get hot again after many years of semi dormancy!

Just be careful (I'm glad you beat him though  ).....

From Casper one olf f**t to another

Occasionally I'll take a challenge, but mostly just ignore that kind of nonsense.
A fun one is to rev like crazy in response and make like you are going to drag off the line, then to drop the revs and absolutely CRAWL away from the light at 2MPH as doof-ball goes shreiking away, looking like the fool he truly is. When you inevitable wind up next to him at the next light, just wink, or give a "how's it going" nod. This is always really hysterical.

DrEnglish you are the maan

that appeals to my sense of humour - The hard bit of course would be to pull up to the guy and give him the nod......with a straight face :roflmoa2: :hihi:

Does your sense of humour ever get you into trouble?

I agree with EnglishBaz, Dr English I like it! You must have a doctorate in road ethics.

Thats the way to do it. Basically, one of the nice things about the Bonnie (as opposed to a plastic rocket) is that people DON'T expect you to race them as a general rule. So, you can relax and enjoy the ride

The trouble is sometimes (with me at least) the blinkers go on and the red mist arrives, fortunately less and less these days. The main problem here in my part of the UK is car drivers who don't see a bike :hammer:
Wake up Mr. car driver, we pay our road tax too

Anyway safe bikin, you old f**t (as I'm an old f**t I can say that!)

Casper
