Hi All
I just purchased a new Bonnie T100. I have not picked it up yet. I told the dealer to put the triumph off road pipes on right away. We never discussed the need to rejet the carb or change the airbox etc.

Are there any mods that need to be done to balance out the new silencers?

Also, the list of accessories has a Restrictor Kit 34PS listed. What is this accessory and is this what I need to compensate for the new silencers?

I pick up the bike on Friday.

Thanks
Roger

You definetly won't be needing the 34PS restrictor kit as it does exactly what the name implies it restricts your bike to 34PS although do you have such license restrictions in the States? I thought they were for the so called european light motorcycles for learners and the like.

Don't know about jetting on the TOR's but I'm looking at changing to Raask's silencers and reckon on rejetting and changing the air filter.

Top choice CaptSeadog

The Triumph Off Road pipes include new jets as part of the kit - it might be worth double checking with your dealer that they will fit the new jets at the same time that they fit the new pipes - and in my dealers fitting was no extra charge as it was all done before delivery to me

It might be worth having your air injector removed at the same time - this is the extra bit beside each spark plug - it is fitted to clean up your exhaust gasses in order to meet gas emission regulations - you need to buy an AI Eliminator kit which is basicallu two plugs to fill the holes in the cylinder head where the AI is removed from

The restrictor kit is fitted to limit the engine power to 34HP max - which is an English thing because new riders who have not yet passed their bike test are not allowed to ride a bike more powerful than that - you don't want it I guess

Check out previous threads about Airbox removal etc - they are not strictly necessary but the guys do it and claim distinct benefits

welcome to the site and enjoy Friday - and the day after - and the...............

Whoops just read my reply........sorry sounded a bit snooty.....wasn't my intention......sorry again.

Gotta go with Englishbaz on the AI removal thingy, I love my Thruxton with two exceptions, the sound my original pipes make and the horrible popping and coughing the AI system causes when you let go of the throttle. If you remove the AI system it will also reduce the blueing of the down pipes that so many seem troubled by, I personally love the blue pipes.

Bonnie TOR's come with 115's. However, I honestly don't believe you have to re-jet with the 865cc engine. The cams and needles are different then the stock 790....which is the engine that the original TOR's were made for.

If you do re-jet, it certainly won't hurt, plus you can add a high-flow air-filter, pull your snorkel, and get some new carb screws.

Strangely_Brown,
You better be careful in Sweden. There is a strange phenomenon that affects Bonnevilles, where a turbo appears from nowhere and it starts making gruesome HP.
You were warned!

Thanks to all of you for your response to my questions. Thanks to your warnings I called the dealer and asked him to remove the air intakes and put in the A I plugs before running the bike. They agreed to do that. Should help minimize the bluing.

As for the re-jetting, there was several different opinions. The dealer told me the same thing that Panthermark said. He said on the standard Bonnie you need to re-jet but not on the t100. He said they put a T100 on a dyno after changing the pipes to the tro's and checked it out both ways. No gains from increasing the jets. But with the smaller engine on the standard the re-jetting was necessary.

Thanks Guys

Roger
