Hi all!

After years of being sucked into the Harley "mystique", I'm finally going to ride what I've always wanted to ride and not what everyone tells me I should ride...

I'm picking up my Speedmaster within the next few days, weather permitting, and have a question about saddlebags.

Are the Triumph leather bags "throw-overs" or do they bolt on? I can't tell from the picture on the Triumph site. I get a $500 credit towards Triumph accessories/clothing with my purchase and I'm trying to decide what goodies to buy (like a kid with the Sears Christmas Wish Book!).

Any suggestions?

Triumph leather bags are throw over type bags that actually go under the seat and require supports that you can buy from Triumph as well. The supports of lengths of bent chromed steel that keep the bags off the wheel and the brake mechanism etc. On your model aftermarket brackets are available, called EasyBrackets, I believe, that eliminate the need for the Triumph supports. You attach the brackets to the back of individual bags and everything comes off except for two tiny connectors. Some prefer those. There are a lot of threads on saddle bag options here, so try a search on the site.

Meanwhile, welcome to the group and enjoy your new ride!

First of all congratulations on the Speedmaster. You have chosen wisely.

Just my 2 cents, but if you can find something else to spend the $500 credit on, do so. For example, you might want to consider a windscreen or better yet the fly screen. Or the TOR pipes. Or the sissy bar. You get the idea. lol

There are lots of saddlebag options available that you may like better than the Triumph ones. Saddlemen as only one example makes a bunch of bags that might suit your taste.

There's also a company in PA called BB Reproductions found HERE They're not for everyone, but kind of different.

There are jillions more, but Leatherworks also makes a nice bag. Whatever you choose, take your time as there are LOTS of saddlebags out there.

As Monte says, the Easy Brackets are the way to go for mounting. They lock the bags in place, and you can remove it in seconds, leaving only the EB fender bolts behind. A nice clean look when you're bag-less.

Best wishes with the Speedmaster. You will love it!

You have great taste in bikes ! I have the easy brackets
on my speedie and they work well. You may want to
remove your sprocket cover and count the teeth on the
front sprocket. If it is 16 - buy 17 or 18 t.
