Anyone use the Steel Horse Motorcycle Rear Stand or the Craftsman Lift? I'm looking at getting one or both of these since the Scrambler does not come with a Center Stand and so before I make a purchase, I am interested in finding out what others have to say on the subject.

I had the centre stand on my Thruxton for a short while, but didn't like it too much. I guess I got used to the bare looks of the Thruxton w/o the stand, and I felt the cafe style was compromised too much with the stand on. It worked ok, though and was handy. But, since I also own the Sears jack, and I do all my maintenance and cleaning at home anyway, I took off the centre stand and sold it. When I had my T-100, I had a centre stand on it, but with that bike, it seemed to blend in better.

I have the Craftsman "deluxe" model. Something like $150. Really like it. Have five bikes to lift so haven't even thought of centerstands. Works very well.

boy, a lot of lift talk today! I guess everyone's thinking about getting their bikes in shape for summer.
The only negative thing I've heard about the Sears lift is the minimum height. It's not quite low enough to easily slide under a bonnie, or so I understand. Harborfrieght and j.c. whitney both make lifts with lower minimum heights. I have the j.c.whitney one, and it works well. It's not quite as substantial as the Sears, but I have found it to be quite stable. Now if I was going to work on a goldwing....I'd be a bit concerned

Thanks for all the input. For those of you who have the Craftsman "deluxe" model, do you think I will have a problem getting my scrambler on it? Is it fairly stable? Where I live (Big Island of Hawaii) we do not have a Triumph service department so I no alternative but to take care of all that stuff myself.

You shouldn't have any problems getting the Craftsman lift under your Scrambler. I position mine to the left, straddle the bike, and then slide the lift under. There are no stability issues with my Speedmaster, and the Scrambler undercarriage looks very similar.

I am in the same boat when it comes to maintenance. There are no Triumph dealers in Korea, so I brought a lift, the service manual, and lots of metric tools with me.
