Hello everyone,

I posted this in the Cafe forum as well, and wanted to post here as I think it also applies. I have a question about two-up riding on a Thruxton:

I'm in love with the looks of the bike, and I hope to be getting one very soon. My previous bike was a 2001 TT600 that I absolutely loved.

Anyway, I want to get a bike that I can ride two up with my wife on at times, and the Thruxton seems to be up to the job. My wife likes the looks but she wants something with a sissy bar/backrest on it. Is there a bar that can be fitted and removed when I want to ride solo? Doesn't look like Corbin has a Gunfighter and Lady for the bike, so that's out. I've searched the net for accessories, and have yet to find something. Does anyone here have a suggestion?

I realize that the Thruxton probably isn't the best two-up bike out there. Can anyone comment on how it rides two-up? I sold the TT600 because my wife didn't like riding on it - She didn't like the feeling of being perched on that little seat and didn't feel safe - which is why I want to get a backrest for whatever I end up buying. I'm desperately trying to avoid buying a full on cruiser - I'd prefer something sporty for when I'm solo, and frankly, after 12 years of racing bicycles, I prefer the agressive, leaned forward position of a sportier bike. A Sprint ST would be great, but they're a little out of my price range, and quite frankly, don't provoke the emotion in me like a Thruxton does.

I look forward to your comments.

Regards,
Jeff

Jeff - The Thruxton handles just fine two-up.

One issue however is the proximity of the riders rearsets to the pillion's footrests.....you'll be playing footsie occassionally.

Mrs. Motley says the seat is slippery too, but maybe a grab rail will help that.

I knew there would be some issues with carrying a pillion but to be honest I wanted a Thruxton so bad I was willing to cross those bridges when I came to them.

Get yerself a standard Bonnie 'bench' seat, will bolt right on to the Thruxton when you are with pillion, and you can go back to the 'solo' with seat cowl when you alone... The standard Bonnie backrest will fit too, but not quite as easy to take on and off.

If the Corbin w/backrest is for the Bonnie,it will fit the Thrux too.It will just be ugly. :-D
