Here is my 14,000 mile Bonneville. I hope you think its shiny!

Here in the U.K. there seem to be lots of low mileage bikes with only 1,000 miles or so, on them. I always thought bikes were to ride? I'd like to be able to say I have only done 1400 miles on my Bonnie (then I could sell it for loads and get a new T100  ).

Anybody out there done a really high mileage on their Bonneville then?

Casper

I've only got 16,000 on mine, but its going up fast.

As for the low mileage bikes, I think a lot of bikes have that happen to them. People buy them and then lose interest, or only ride once in a while. I have a friend with a Yamaha V Star she bought in January of 2005, it only has 12 miles on it!

Casper, I have 37K miles on my '02, which I purchased used in August of "03 with 3K miles on it.

The only problem I've had with it was a blown fuse 1 mile from my house...

A number of guys over on the NTBF board have more than 50k miles on their Bonnies.

Sneaking up on 15,000 miles in eight months of ownership, during which I chose not to ride during two months of rain. This is what she's gonna look like this weekend while I join a bunch of Sportsters & Buells in Yosemite.

Billyzinc and FatRat - that is wicked You've both done some serious miles ...............
...................and FatRat your bike really looks really well sorted & together. Well done.

I only wish I could join you in your run to Yosemite, I have heard of it and it sounds great  I guess you'll have good weather at this time of year now.

The only trouble is a few thousand miles of distance including a big bit of water in between

Have a great time......cool bikin'

Well, yeah......but who's to say riding less miles isn't riding ! I only have 6k on mine after a bit less than a year, and i think this year it'll probably be less. Probably considerably less. But to me that doesn't mean i don't ride it. It did't get those 6k miles sitting in the garage 24/7 ! I like the idea of riding it less than full time because it stays new longer and mainly because like anything else i find that if you do something a lot it's less fun than if you do it less. Anything i've even done no matter how much i like it gets less exciting the more you do it. If i ride only on the weekend for example it's far more exciting than if i ride every day. I see nothing wrong with that and certainly don't consider it NOT riding. I like to sip and savor, not chug.
