Just curious who out there is 'sharing' the good weather and spring riding between 2 wheels with pedals vs 2 wheels with an engine....

I promised my wife I would not neglect my 20spd road bike when I bought the Triumph America. So far I'm really enjoying the differences. Both are a ton of fun, and in completely different ways.

For the last 3 weeks I've ridden (commuted to the office on) the bicycle 2 days each week, and the motorcycle 2 days. I put $20 gas in my truck on the first of the month and there is still some in there

Nate

Yeah, another pedaler(ist?) here. I put 30 miles in on my mountain bike on saturday (off-road too - I was pooped) and about 100 in on the Bonnie.

I have a sunburn.

Yup, infact I just got home from work on my bicycle. I ride my Rivendell to work and back (only 25 miles roundtrip) a few days a week. I usually keep the Bonnie for the weekend. Before I started bike commuting I would go out on a saturday or a sunday and do 30-50 miles but commuting to work is more fun and gets me my exercise without cutting into my free time.

My home purchase was based on being next to local MTB trails here in So.Cal as I ride up to three days per week or more. Though I may put more miles on the Thuxton, I spend more time on the pedals.

The New Ride (2006 Intense 5.5)

Me at 12,500 feet on the Colorado Trail (120 miles, 5 days/nights camping long the way)

Speaking of butt hurting. I guess I can ask this. I hate too though. But you started it. I love riding my T100 but have been looking at those cheap bikes at Wal Mart. I won't spend the money for a Cannodale or some other bike. I won't ride that much. But I cannot figure out how a 15 speed Mongoose or Swinn with aluminum frame & a mono-shock rear & telescoping front with disc brakes & good looking cables & controls can be ONLY $130.00.
The low price runs me off. If the same bike was setting there with a $500.00 price tag I would be more interested.
That doesn't make any sense. I didn't really ask a question did I? (oops, I did then)
But they are twin powered. (pedals)

I ride both kinds of cycles. i'll admit though when i first got my bonnie, my road milage took a plummet. granted it was winter time so i could blame it on something else.

ever since then i've been trying to balance it out. it's kinda hard but doable. i would do a bicycle ride in the morning while still cool, then hit the streets in the afternoon. works out pretty well and you definitely get the best of both worlds. :-D

and 357Bob, it will do you good to stay away from those walmart bikes. they are that cheap for a reason... so you have some money left over for the medical bills when they fall apart from underneath you.

Nice bike. I rode Mt bikes for about 10 years and now exclusively ride a road bike. I have been burned out on it lately and don't do it as much as I used to, which was about 5000 miles a year.

I would expect them to fall apart. That price is cheap. But they LOOK so good. The frames are large. The controls are a known brand. Starts with an "S". A known brand but I don't know what it is. Thats dumb. I see them on everything.
But I expect they are China junk. Communist. But that is my price. I want to spend the Big bucks on Bonnie.
Shamano that's it. I went & looked at my sons Raleigh.
Thanks.

I hear these are really good:

Not made in China.

I never understood why someone would spend all that money on a bicycle until I tried a really expensive one. They're not overpriced.
