Up till now I have just commented on threads. Now I will start one.
I won't ask if it is worth the money. $240.00 is high. But to those that have installed the center stand.
Is it a good item? Does it work like a center stand should? Is it hard to get the Bonneville up on it?
I have mixed emotions about it. (I know. A guy shouldn't be having emotions about a center stand) I think I want one because every bile I have ever had has had one. But I don't want to add even 1 extra pound if it isn't any good. I may even slack off on my eating.
I figure by morning here in Oklahoma this thread will be on page 2 or 3 after the Aussies & Brits have had their says. Yeah the Swiss guys too.

I bought my centerstand when I bought the bike. I like to have them whenever I can and the Triumph model is as good as any. It lifts easily and creates maintenance options that make servicing and cleaning the motorcycle a great deal easier. This purchase is a no-brainer. The $240 is a deal for the benefit you will realize over time.

Cool. I am getting tired of rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain, rolling & spraying the chain.
I am getting tired of typing "rolling & spraying the chain".
I do it in my stall at work so the night clean up crew can deal with it.
I better get one. They are supposed to be getting me a service manual anyway.
Then I can read & turn the page, read & turn the page, read & turn the pagezzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think the bike looks better on a centre stand anyway.

You could get a paddock stand for chain maintenance - though it's not much use if you are away from home!

357Bob,

If you have the money, buy it. The center stand tucks neatly out of the way, easy to manipulate, and it is priceless for the do it yourself maintenence that you may want to do. The weight factor you mentioned you will never notice 99% of the time. I imagine if you are constantly trying to set trap speed records, or some sort of a professional racer you could do with out. But for most, it works well.

Bought it with the bike.
Worth every cent.
Glad I did it.

Until the T100, I never owned a bike that didn't come with a center stand. Really missed it. Installed one within a few weeks of purchase. I like it when traveling (to lube the chain of course), when adding oil (not often so far), and when loading and unloading camping gear and luggage on the rear rack. Lots easier for me to load when the bike is level.

My .02 worth.

Bob

Note:
Triumphs are british and have CENTRE stands.
H-Ds may have CENTER stands.

Not helpful, but I'm a pedantic bu**er at the best of times.
Centre stands, on the other hand, are helpful.

Pete.
