It has a 5mm hex head (Allen key) sort of plugged into the airboxunder one of the sidecovers I can't remember which one Cos I don't have an airbox anymore. That is your toolkit.

Well, I'm underwhealmed by their generosity

Perhaps the bikes are so reliable they never need attention

The Allen key is to remove the seat. Yes they are very reliable.

While I agree that Triumph are cheap when it comes to such things, the fact is that I've never seen a factory supplied tool kit that was worth a dime. I always had to put together a little tool kit to carry with my bike anyway because the supplied kit was so crummy.

What I am "underwhelmed" by (great term, by the way!) is the fact that a center stand is a REALLY useful, and essentially a necessary part of any bike with a final drive chain, and Triumph considers it a $240, plus labor, "accessory." Humbug!

Yeah, I bought one.

I bought a motorcycle jack from Sears, ~$90, works on all my bikes!

Monte - if and when I break down and buy a new digital camera, I'll try to remind myself to unroll the toolkit that came with the W650, and send you a photo of all the pieces. They appear to be chrome plated (no rust in 6 years) and come in a small roll pack that fits under the seat. Since I do most of my work in the garage using my personal tools, the roll pack doesn't come out often.
However, it is nice to know it's there. For a toolset that came with a little nondescript Japanese bike, I was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the tools in the set. It sets the tone for the rest of the bike.

BTW - I installed the centerstand, too. Way nice when traveling, and you want to lube the chain, or simply to have the bike standing up straight when loading and unloading luggage and camping equipment, checking oil level, etc.
