Well, last Saturday I took the new speedmaster out for my first real ride since having back surgery in 1994, sure I've done the puttin around on quad thing but nothing like an actual all day ride.

After surgery in 1994 the doc said "No way will you be able to ride a motorcycle again". At the time I was devastated because I've been on two wheels all my life, I mean one of the first pictures of me was in diapers sitting on a 68 Bonnie's gas tank.

Anyway, so I was in Bullhead Az, at our vacation house last weekend and early Saturday morning decided to ride up to Oatman (old mining town in the desert 27 miles away) once there had a Farley decent breakfast at the old Oatman Hotel and then decided to ride up old "Rt 66" to Kingman Az then come back down Hwy 95 into Bullhead. Let me tell you all, it was honestly one of the best days I have had in my life.

Not to sound like a "GIRLY MAN" but as I was crossing paths with about fifty other motorcyclists I realized how long I've been gone, how much I missed riding and I actually got a little choked upand at the end of the day the trip counter said 100 miles. GOD BLESS ME I LOVE TO RIDE.

And God bless you all also, be safe. :-D

Sounds like a great ride! I remember making that drive with my grandparents in 1967.
Glad you were able to ride again and a great bike to do it on.

Glad to hear it. I get a grin pretty much every time I ride. I went without for far too long and won't do it again. Enjoy the the rest of them.

Spanky, what an absolutely wonderful story! I am very happy for you and know that you must be absolutely busting with joy. Don't push your limits too quickly. There is a lot of riding season left!

Good on you!!

Back in the day when you met another rider they & we would hold our fist in the air. Now all I get is a couple of fingers held out to the side. Looks like a left turn signal. Some V rider rag heads won't even look at you.
I had a guy the other day asking me what my helmet was for. He had never seen one. I told him he didn't need one. It is called a brain bucket.
Take care of that back. I will probably need surgery someday. But my back has stopped hurting since sleeping on an air mattress.
Doesn't hurt to ride on Bonnie either. Especially with the pegs under me where they belong so I can raise up for Oklahoma pot holes. Ouch.

Great story Spanky. Today on the way to work I was riding across base, right alongside the flightline, and some F-16's were taking off and I put my fist up and revved it up like I was Tom Cruise in Top Gun. It was completely dorky, but it felt like the right thing to do. Then I puttered the rest of the way to the office and smiled.

Riding a Triumph is pretty fun.
