I have read here and there that some guys don't go to synthetic at the first oil change but wait until 1500 miles or so? my Red and Black I think I will name her Nora after my Great Grandma.

The theory is that it takes 1500 miles or more to fully break in.

I changed to full synthetic at first service 1200 km (750 miles) and I noticed that the engine loosened a lot more after about 3000 kms (1800 miles).
Keeping non-synthetic in there longer may reduce the overall break in distance. This is due to full synthetic's better lubricating qualities.
