Just put a sealed beam (H6024) headlamp in on Friday.
Tonight on my way back from a friends house in the country I was impressed with the new low beam. As I headed trough a wooded area I put it on high beam (to help spot the deer along the road) Was very pleased with the new high beam then the lights went out. (Very scary at 50 mph on a winding country road) set it back to low beam and for about 15 seconds had light again then I was again in total darkness

Has anyone had this problem with a sealed beam in their T100 or Bonnie?
Wonder what may have blown the lamp

Hard to tell tonight in the dark but it appears the lamp blew out. fortunately I found a port in the storm to keep the bike for the night and got a ride back into town

I've been using mine for a couple months now and haven't had any problems.

I just had the low beam blow out on the Xenon bulb from New Bonneville. High beam still lights up. It has a warranty, but by the time you pay the shipping to the bulb company and the shipping and handling back it costs about the same as buying a new bulb. Fortunately, they are packaged in twos so I have a spare plus the original. I was thinking about a sealed beam because of the poor stock lens pattern on high but if you lose the whole light it is too difficult to carry a spare.

Though impressed by stories of cheap BRIGHT lights, I was reluctant to give it a go. I've read enough and heard stories aplenty to convince me that laying down the big bucks for a PIAA bulb is the only way to go.

So far, I've put many an hour and lots-o-miles on a couple different PIAA's on a couple different bikes. This however, after 'sperimenting with inexpensive alternatives myself......

You still have to deal with the crappy lens the Bonneville has.

I'd rather the lighting a motorcycle provides me, than a ride in a 4x4 with Flame Throwers mounted atop a light rack and a pair of high beams.

On a motorcycle as in life, there are compromises that must be made. If one truly wanted better lighting on his Bonnie, a properly installed HID system would be the way to go.... it shouldn't cost (much) more than a set of British Customs Predator cans.

The only point I obviously did a poor job of making was, frequently you get what you pay for. And mounting a headlamp designed for smooth riding car on a motorcycle, or springing for a pretty bulb that claims to make light "whiter", is a little some'n for noth'n

left in the dark......

Biggest problem with the Bonnie light is the lens, not the bulb. Last year I upgraded my lens to a quality Cibie unit from Daniel Stern Lighting.

What a difference! The OEM lens is ridiculous by comparison, the Chinese manufacturer clearly has no idea how to design a functional headlamp.

With all the regulations on modern vehicles it amazes me that you can get away with selling a stock headlamp that's that bad.

OK Joe,
I will give it a try... I take it that this is the one : 7" Convex/Dome-face H4 high/low beam. It is on the page with the link.

I thought we had a 8" lamp.

I guess someone has already discussed fusing and power rating of the new bulb.

An easy start if the new bulb is the same power rating as the standard bulb, then I would not expect probs. Any ideas on the figures? Is it a 60Watt lamp, what's the fuse rating??

If my sealed beam goes dark I will try that. I read about this a while back. I'm too cheap to spend the $60 for it so I thought I'd try the $15 sealed beam. so far this is the only time I have heard of anyone having a problem.
