Hit a major pothole a couple of weeks ago. Now, when I move the bike I hear the disc brakes rubbing the pad, but it's not a constant sound, as if the rim is no longer true and as it goes around the pad rubs during part of the rotation.

Thoughts? Can this likely be corrected with a spoke adjustment if that's what it is?

Other than using a dial indicator type set up to check the rims, if you happen to have one of those cheapy laser pointing devices you might be able to see if the wheel is out of whack.
When I adjust my chain, I tape one of those laser pointers to my frame with the light beam hitting the wheel at a specific spot. When I spin the wheel and the light beam wavers out of track I know that more adjustment is required. Maybe that could work for you.

Poor man's laser pointer....
Got a jack? Jack the front of the bike up and put a piece of 2x4 on the floor next to the wheel, just as a point of reference. Spin the wheel, watch it againts the 2x4 to check for warpage. If it is bent, a wheel shop might be able to work it out with the spikes... If not, start lookin in the classifieds!

Sounds to me like you have a warped rotor. They'll make noise as you spin the wheel.

If you'd hit a pothole hard enough to bend the HUB (which is where the disc is mounted) you'd know all about it. If you've had a big hit, whether or not your rim is bent, you need to check your tyre. Look for visible damage to the tread and sidewall, any bulges or loss of pressure. If the tyre looks OK, keep a close eye on it over the next few rides and keep it in mind until that tyre comes to the end of its life.

If there is anything like a bulge, now or later, replace the tyre.

LJ3,

I'm in Des Moines and we have a group of guys, mostly Triumphs, that go to most of the biker events around here, like the Thursday night Porky's and Trophy's bike night. It's kind of fun when we pull in cuz most everybody else is on some HD or clone thereof. When we roar in, it's nice to hear people say, "that's a cool bike" when you ride by. Then there is always a couple dozen folks that check 'em out after we park.

I ended up talking to a young hottie last night that also rides a Thruxton. Tried to get her to join our "gang", but I guess I don't have it anymore. Oh well.

So, yeah, if you're around DSM come out and meet us.
