Are these the ones I should get? I've heard there are quality ones and there are ones I should avoid.

The oem mirrors from the yamaha stealers are 50 bucks a pop!

Dennis...you'd want the Vmax/Virago style mirrors. Those look like they are, but not sure about that "mini" bit. The OEM numbers should be similar to 26280 for the left and 26290 for the right. Make sure they are 10 mm mount.
I bought mine through jpcycles.com for $21.99 each, but they are not OEM (they're actually made by EMGO). Check out their number ZZ76064 and ZZ76066. Still, quality in my opinion is pretty good considering I don't have a Vmax mirror to compare them to. I just unscrewed the mirror portion and installed them on my Triumph mirror stalk.
I understand that the actual Yamaha mirrors are of good quality and therefore $50 a pop might not be bad.

Here. Consider these. You'll be taking the mirrors off the stems, and putting them on your stems. These are "inexpensive."

"H" Pg 57, Catalog 127A-04, J. C. Whitney "Everything Motorcycle"
CAE011173 LEFT
CAE011174 RIGHT

$18.99 EACH.

1985 - 2001 Yamaha V-Max VMX12 Right Side 7" Stem Replacement Screw-in Mirror Each CAE011173T $18.99

I like them OK, but you CANNOT paint them Creamsickle and Opal :-D

The mirror itself, is NOT Concourse Quality. More like "Honda" Quality, know what I mean. They're just plain plastic chrome backs, and slight distortion (which is semi-concave or is it convex, maybe they meant to do that - yeah...) around the outer crimp insert edges. The field of view is so large in the road plane compared to Triumph's OEM Old Roundies, I never notice "the edges" on the ride. If you don't like 'em - send 'em back - J.C. Whitney is like that and stuff ships same day.

No vib issues, any more then Triumph's round OEMers. Don't know of any Blackies. >Who makes 'em?< Box says, MOTOAISA, #011173 & 74, Made in Taiwan, Republic Of China - surprise, surprise.

And Shorty's right (below), but as a reference point such as "two shoulder lengths for every 10 feet behind me," I grew rather attached to the view of my elbow (Shorty's view must be really short I guess [below] ) over the miles, like the red male cardinal who absolutely loves my Jeep mirror right now...

And here's what they look like mounted, if you can imagine them with your Creamsickle Fairing:

Thanks guys.... any vibration issues on either of those?
Waltz, any idea who makes those? Just curious.

And no, i'm not painting them opal/tang.
I REALLY want mirrors in black. Does that exist?

No vibration issues on mine at all using the original triumph stem...good description WaltZ. I would say that the optical quality could be better for the reasons mentioned by walt...some distortion around the crimp. Still a good sight picture of the road behind you as opposed to your shoulder.

I just bought those same mirrors from that vendor on e-bay.
They are EMEGO aftermarket mirrors, NOT Yamaha OEM. The quality is OK and they screw on our stems.

I went with the minis. I like the look, but the field of view behind is not much improved over stock. I have thought about getting the "regular" size as an extra 1 inch in length would improve the view....

Dennis,

I got the mirrors as Shorty so nicely put the info in detail. I tried to put them on with the stem they came with on the hand grips. Then realized you use the existing Triumph stems and throw away the stems that came with them. It's more of a cruiser look but I see much better and a mirror is a safety thing first and looks second. Good service from the people shorty said to get from.

Good luck

I just looked at you new setup. I would go for the regular size Yamaha mirrors, not the minis like I did...

I went with the minis, as I have a Triumph fly screen, and they seemed more in proportion to that. With your large screen, you want the larger mirrors, and better vision....

Has anybody tried these mirror extenders or another set like them?

http://www.koubalink.com/mirror.html

I kind of like the old round mirror style, and would prefer to keep them instead of buying new mirrors. My problem is that the first owner of my bonnie chopped an inch off of each side of the handlebars, so I probably see more shoulder than most of you get to!

I had some two inch extensions fitted as my first solution to the mirror problem - I took them off immediately - I could see OK but they looked awful on the bike

I now have have the Yamaha V-Max mirrors on my original stems and they look great - also I can see behind me beautifully - no vibration at all
