A buddy of mine has a really nice America and is looking for some pipes (silencers) for it. He saw a guy who had simply cut the stock exhuast and rejetted and said it looked great and sounded LOUD. I know there are a ton of you out there with Americas, can you give me some good ones to use that are straight or slash cut? He saw some D&D pipes, but they look too sporty for what he wants to do and wants to keep the straight pipe look. Thansk for the help!

These are Madaz pipes, you do need to rejet and you will nee to import them from Melbourne but they are very good. Not too loud and a very mellow note...

I rode around with 2 baffles on each side removed for a few months, didn't want to take a third one out in case I didn't like it. Picked up an extra set of pipes on ebay for $51 including shipping. Went ahead and knocked out third baffle, made a huge difference. Deep tone at idle, a nice blap blap sound on accelleration. Keeping the spare set, though, as long as I'm in warranty. Tell your friend to watch ebay. Stock pipes usually go for around $100 or so. Mine were $51, heard someone else's were $.99

Specialty Spares Long Cannons on my America. You can also get them slash cut or with billet end caps. Removable, packed baffles, go as loud as you dare. I removed about 30% of my packing for a little more bark.
Hear them at this site, stock and modified:

I really like the look of the stock pipes. I think they were well designed and that's why I have the TOR's. :upthumb:

Bryan-I have teh TOR on my Bonneville and love them. They give a good rumble and keep the look of the bike. Made well, too. Thanks!!

Question, are the TOR's louder then some of the other aftermarket pipes? Louder then the staintunes?

I'd like to change the exhaust but I don't want to make the little kids down the blook cry when I motor past..

I don't feel the TOR's are very obnoxious but I haven't herd the Staintunes so I really can't compare them.

One vote for epcos.

Caveat: I've got 30mi on mine, and this is my first setup, so not much to compare them to :P
