IF you're in the LA area you know the rain we've been havin is killin our riding time. Last week we actually had one good day up here in the north county. So I took off on my Speedy down Sierra Hwy towards Palmdale, doing around 80mph on a clear straightaway over a rise in the road and there were 2 CHP officers standing in the road wih a radar gun and waving at me..thought this was gonna cost me alot of donuts and coffee. They stopped me, told me how fast I was going and I told them, heck ... look at the bike, me , and the day...could you blame me?...I didn't even try to argue...They agreed, great day to be out on 2 wheels...let me go with a warning...inside every cop, there's a biker!!!

Cool. I bet your heart was beating pretty fast when you first saw those two.

So... How Fast did the radar indicate? It's been pretty much generally accepted that the speedo's are as much as 10% optomistic. At an indicated 80, I don't think I'm going more than 73-75....

Oh yeah, Congrats on a great day... always tell anyone who'll listen "I'd rather be lucky, than good!"

SOS,

I can't agree with you more! Inside of every cop there's a biker! I know too many of both and the fun and enjoyment of doing both things are what keeps them at it. I think that I'd probably do the same in the CHPs' position. Ride safe and watch how you do it! On the other hand, I saw a fellow on a crotch rocket with two other similar bikes come up to a red traffic light and the one I was watching cranked on his front handbrake and popped up onto the front wheel and then set it back down on the rear wheel before turning right with his mates... I pulled him over and he told me, "Hey, it was an accident and I didn't mean to do it." I told him BS and wrote him for negligent driving... =)
