What do you folks use to clean the chrome on your bikes?

Use Mequiars NXT generation all metal polysh on my truck is this ok to use on the bike?

Also what do you use to wash/wax the bike?

For my chrome I use any proprietry bike or car shampoo - leather it off with a Chamois before any watermarks have a chance to form - doing this in the shade is good - then polish with a clean soft cloth - I have a roll of mutton cloth which is brilliant

Ocasionally I give the chrome a polish with Solvol Autosol but only lightly because its a bit abrasive - brings it up beautifully

never use washing up liquid because its loaded with salt

Sb - I don't think you can get rid of the blueing - its part of the natural process for steel to change colour when it is heated so the blueing is an integral part of the metal now

Just polish it and make it shine

Like others I wash with car/bike specific washing soap. In between full washes, I use glass cleaner to bring out the shine and remove the spots from the chrome. S100 and Honda detail aerosols work nice, too. McGuires Gold Class Clear Coat paste car wax is my preferred longevity treatment.

I use automotive washing soap to clean the entire motorcycle.Meguire's wax and polish on the pint work. If the chrome needs anything more than a spot wipe, it is time to wash the whole bike. Do not wipe surfaces that have a layer of dirt/dust on em, it just scratches the heck out of whatever you just touched. There is no such thing as chrome polish, just chrome scratch in a tube or can. If your chrome is to the point that polish makes it look better, it's time to have it re-plated. Now softer metals are a different subject and can be polished with good results, aluminum, brass, and copper come to mind. Vegas

I use a product the local Triumph dealer sells which is called Kawasaki Wipe Down. It is probably a l lot like S100 or the Honda equivalent. That dealer also sells Kawasaki, Ducati, KTM and Moto Guzzi bikes.

The stuff works great as long as I don't let it get too dirty, which I haven't yet.

I have always used Turtle Wax carwash/wax combo, I am too lazy to actually wax the bike as a second step, this stuff has kept her looking good through 14,000 miles.....

Wet bike, spray down with 50/50 (or even more diluted) Simple Green. Wipe down with rag wetted with Simple Green solution. Rinse and dry.

Maquires Gold Class auto wax on paint work.

Eagle 1 Nev-R-Dul chome polish (available at auto parts store) for the bright stuff.

I used to work for a Chrome shop years ago. Nev-R-Dul is the only thing I'll use for chrome. It will NOT harm chrome and is NOT abrasive.

The Bonnie looks great. I was -up at Deals Gap last week. I got a number of compliments on how the bike looked.
