I'm wondering what you folks think of Triumphs retail prices.
My Kawi ZRX 1200 (4 cylinder, liquid cooled, 4 carbs, more hp, etc) was a lot cheaper to buy then my T100.

Jap bikes are cheap.
But Triumph is not expensive, I still think they are a decent value.

Now Harley's... like'em or hate'em... those are overpriced.

Can some of our UK friends tell us what they cost over there?

I was closly looking at a suzuki v strorm just now coincidentally that was parked next to my car. The quality isn't very close to my SM at all. If it costs less theres a reason. Triumphs are considerably better in quality of materials very obviosly by looking at that bike. And triumphs aren't that much more expensive. Harleys are HUGELY more expensive for the mid to upper models but if you look close at them the build quality is superb....even better than Triumph. But look at a base sportster and again you see what i saw in that V strorm....low build quality/materials. All this speaks to the fact that you pretty much get what you pay for as far as build quality/materials go. Triumph may not be any better than any other as far as price/quality goes, but it's certainly not overpriced. But of course theres the added bonus you get that no harly or Jap bike has.....uniqueness. And actually when you think about it, the fact they are NOT overpriced is sorta amazing considering thier production numbers tho rising aren't even close to Jap or harley. In that regard they are underpriced !

No, they are not.

But their factory aftermarket parts are.

It's hard to compare prices on a Bonnie because there are no other bikes like it sold in the States.

The closest you can get is either a used Kawi 650, a yet to be sold "new" Norton, or a Royal Enfield.

A new Bonnie Black with a centerstand and tach installed will run about $7600 OTD....even less if you order from Hermy's and install them yourself.....

Find a new 2005 and save even more cash.

Adding a Polaris bellmouth, UNI filter, shims, jets, A.I. kit, carb screws, forksprings, and a set of new pipes will run you another $400 to $700.

For around 8 grand, and about 4 hours of garage time, you will have a brand new 800cc bike that is like nothing else on the road.

That's a deal if you ask me.

When the new Triumphs first started arriving over here they were priced about $1000 -$2000 over competative bikes in the market segment they targeted. That has changed a lot and I think that Triumph has reached a pretty fair price point for their products: ie: slightly higher than similar Japanese bikes and somewhat lower than European bikes in the same class.

The trouble with asking the question re the retro Triumphs is that they are niche bikes and there really is nothing currently on the market comprable to, say, the Bonneville series. Certainly there are no current Japanese retros and compared to the Guzzi's and a couple of the Duks (which, in spite of their advertizing, are not true retros) Triumphs are fairly priced, and IMHO, better products. The Enfield is so poor in all aspects that I consider it not even part of the conversation.

About the OEM accessories: They are outrageously priced -- until you compare them with the same type accessories from ALL manufacturers, and discover that they are ALL outrageous.

2 cents worth.

Bazza, thanks for helping to make my point.

I thought the Speedmaster was fairly priced considering it's imported from the UK. A quality product for a fair price!

And probably at least $1,000 less than a relatively comparable Sportster.
