I know this question and topic has been discussed before. I went on a short ride, just running a few errands, and noticed that there were quite a few other bikes on the road. It seemed to be over run with Harleys. What a gold mine that company seems to have on the two wheel market. I was never more happy to be one my little ole Bonneville. I didn't see another one one the road. Funny how Harley riders were at one time considered to be rebels, meaning they wanted to be different, to stand out from the crowd, now it seems they blend in with the crowd. Another thing I noticed is that they only seem to wave to another Harley rider. It was either that or because I wear a helmet, even though here in Illinois it isn't required, and shouldn't be! Just some thoughts and observations.

They don't blend into the crowd, they ARE the crowd !

I wonder how they know an oncoming motorcyclist is riding a Harley? If you are each going 45 that equates to 90mph and it is hard for me to tell at that speed.

Nothing more satisfying than to be riding a Bonneville in a town of lemmings either on their crotch rockets or cookie-cutter cruisers.
In Stockton, in the Central Valley of California, I AM "all that AND a bag-o-chips!" It was hard to be humble when Bryan (on his America) and I (on my Bonnie) became the center of attention at a local biker burger stand.......

Some day you will get to own THE bike along with your Bonnie.
My Roadglide it the best bike (over a dozen) that I have ever owned.

Yes, someday you will get to own a HD too, THE most overpriced, underpowered, poorest handling and longest distance braking bike out there, aren't you lucky.
Please, they are nicely styled classic looking bikes that are pretty reliable and have a great following due to superior marketing, but they are not THE anything in terms of performance or price.
If you've got to justify spending the money on a HD do it on a HD forum where they will appreciate it, here it just sounds like a slam on the Triumphs.
P.S. Around here in Cleveland, Ohio the HD riders are not snobs, all us bikers seem to get along and wave at each other, there are some exceptions of course but that's their problem.

True that it is hard to tell what kind of bike someone is on when they are approaching, but it is easy to tell if they are wearing a helmet or not. I wonder if that has anything to do with the rider attitude or not. I am not a believer of helmet or seatbelt laws but do wear both, not because the law tells me to but because I believe in protecting myself as much as reasonably possible. I wave at everyone I see on two wheels.
