It finally happened yesterday. I simply forgot to put my kickstand down and by the time I realized it, I was past the point of no return and I had to slowly let the bike go down (while still holding it). Anyways, besides a dime sized scratch on the left pipe and a scratch on the housing where the shift lever hit it, all seemed fine. And then as I got on to drive home last night, something looked/felt a little funky, and after sitting on the bike for a couple minutes trying to figure out what it was, I realized that the cheap (metal?) housing that attaches to the forks and holds the headlight and shifted/bent to the right (if sitting on the bike). I grabbed it and realized that it easily shifts left and right a little bit, but one the brackets IS bent the slightest bit.....Anything to worry about or should I just forget about it....?

Sorry to hear about that...

Those brackets are worthless....don't worry about it. You can try to tighten everything to the max, and you will still be able to move your headlight up, down, left, and right. My eyelid visor catches a lot of air and pushes the headlight up. I don't even bother to use the high beam at night....as I would basically be illuminating the moon.

Actually, funny you should mention that. Not funny about your bike though, sorry. I had to let my down recently and the peg busted off.

Anyway, i was installing my fairing last night and realized that i could take the headlight and those brackets and move them side to side. Is that normal? I had removed my forks recently and want to make sure i put everthing back together right.

This happened to me very early on and fortunately the only mishap was a slightly scratched mirror.

If nothing else I hope I learned a potentially hard lesson the easy way for a change.

Those brackets are not actually secured to anything, its normal for them to move around a little, I wouldn't worry about that.

Coppers right. You might even try to bend it back a little if it's noticeable. Sometimes you can buff out scratches on chrome or aluminum and it looks just fine.

Not certain about the Bonnie, but the America/Speedy's need the rear brake bled when tipped over. Make sure no air entered your fluid reservoir.
