Was wandering around the J C Whitney website, picking up a couple of piece parts and noticed that they have a fair selection of motorcycle mufflers, baffles, accessories, etc.

Have any of you installed these? The prices are very cheap.

Jc whitney has parts for most Japanese and Harley bikes, but offer very little for Triumphs.

kb...I've installed the baffles in my Sprint Teardrop pipes. I believe there are some folks in here who have adapted some of the exhaust pipes to their bikes. I have also purchased other misc. items like fuel filters, license plate bullet lights and other accessories from JC Whitney.

Most of the mufflers sold via JC Whitney are a universal fit. You can buy the adaptors for that kink in our pipes that allows you to hang something other than the popular pipes we're already familiar with. (sold through our local on-line vendors)

I would like to see/hear the Dunstall style pipes sold by JC (not to be mistaken with the other "JC") on a Bonneville.

Hey Kball I bought a pr of jc's reverse cone megaphones & using curve adapters I got from a site sponsor tried on mine for one afternoon with & without baffles. I didn't really care for them, louder yes-but to me a sharper hi toned crack sound as opposed to my TORS that went back on same afternoon! Just an opinion. TORS are deeper more mellow tone I feel more suited to me, my style & type of rider I am.

I have the short megaphones from JCW on my Thrux- they're the same as those sold by Specialty Spares- In fact, I first bought them from JCW , returned them cause they came w/o the adapter I needed, and bought mine from Specialty Spares...They ARE the same units tho, made by EMGO, a long established clone part maker from Taiwan....
About the pipes- the finish is good, not great, they look good; About the sound and performance? Without sounding too full o'myself- every RAT ride I go on, as soon as we stop, every Thrux and Bonnie rider there is gathered round asking me "Where did you get those pipes?' They're quite loud, deep and throaty...I love em...Search this site and you should be able to find a vid of em with a sound bite...

Extra Motorcycle: dya mean the one outside?
I've fitted something similar in my new pipes, but I'm yet to decide whether I really like them or not.
As Billie I has quite rightly observed, the deeper tone of the TORS does sound better (in my opinion) but the Classics with the "Hi Level" baffles (similar to the JCs, only slightly longer I think) may turn out to be more suited to the larger capacity (904cc) and pod filters (K&Ns) of my Bonnie. I plan to take both sets of pipes to the dyno-tuning garage next week where I hope to make a comparison.
Incidentally, while Pat's no doubt right about the JCs being a universal fit, I found that I had to make my own spacers in order to achieve the "snugness" I wanted for my set. Also, having tried and rejected the white fluffy wadding in favour of purely mechanical baffling, I found that I was able to increase botom-end power by hammering a large steel washer down the inner end of each baffle. Mind you, when I told my dyno-mechanic about this over the phone he audibly winced and said not to worry as he shouldn't have too much trouble removing it when he tunes my bike next week. Oh well, so much for Heath Robinson.
:-D

Keef,

What mufflers do you have pictured, where did you get them, and what is the cost?

Thanks
John
