My new predators should be here this week that are replacing my TORs. And whether or not the bike has the jets installed that are supposed to come with TORs, i have no idea. So my question is this... If I install the predators, is it ok to run the bike with the current jetting just for a little while? I want to take the bike into the shop and have it professionally tuned but I might want to have my fairing painted first. Or should I make sure i have it jetted first, then worry about the fairing?

Should be no problem to run until you go to the shop for jetting. You might want to open the idle air screws to 3 turns or so just to richen the bottom end.-T1

It might be a good time to return a dirty filter in place, take off any bellmouth intake, and stick the constricting snorkel back on if you're gonna run with stock jetting and that free breathing Predator

Then again, I'm no tech'....... I'm just thinking it might richen up a condition that could become (close to) dangerously lean.

(There, that might scare ya to 'do the right thing' that much sooner)

Swap the darn jets already! They probably come with the pipes(so you have them already) and rejetting will take a lot less time than swapping the pipes themselves.Who knows if they upped the mains for those TORs(might not have) and the Predators will need some moderately large mains.I would get it close with the new mains when installing the pipes, let them finish tuning the needles and pilots when you take it in.They might go up or down a size or two on mains depending on your setup, but you will be in the ballpark. Why ride around for awhile with a mis-tuned bike? That's not what we're all about! :-D I think if you didn't care you wouldn't have asked.

The preds are used so no jets and I don't have time to d*ck around with trial and error which is why I'm just going to take it in to the shop and have it professionally tuned one time and be done with it. I just wanted to make sure i could get back and forth to the paint shop or whatever without doing damage. Not doing any 300 mile joyrides or anything until it's jetted.

You should be OK for the short term, and with the weather remaining pretty constant in your neck of the woods this time of the year, if it runs OK right off, it will probably stay that way until it gets hot and more humid. I would encourage you to have a full dyno tune if you can when you get it re-jetted. With the exception of a lean spot in the low end, my Thruxton has a much more consistent torque curve since my service. It pulls like an ox all the way through the gears now.

Congrats on the Predators...you will love them.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just play it by ear and see what happens first.
Just wanted to make sure nothing was gonna blow up. :-D

Dennis,I started a bafflectomy tonight on one of the Thrux mufflers Stevent gave me.Unlike the Bonnie cans, the Thrux only has a couple baffles and thru tubes.I gutted the last 12" of the pipe and left the last baffle/thru tube.I don`t want it loud, just rumbly like my Bonnie pipes. Also, unlike the Bonnie, the Thrux doesn`t have the perfed "salt shaker" baffles. The plates are solid, with a 1/2" thru tube and a mesh screen with fiberglass down the sides.I can see all the way thru now.I`ll do the other one after work tomorrow and try fitting them later in the week.I may have to cut and re-weld the neck to fit my Bonnie. I don`t care for that splayed out look on the Thrux.
