Well, after reading many posts and racking up 3,000 miles, I have decided to get the Epco slash cut pipes for my 2005 SM. This will be my first engine modification and I do have a question or two...more to come I am sure:

1). If I replace the pipe will I have to do anything adjusting to my carb???? I think the answer is no because I am not affecting air intake into the carbs but could be wrong.

2). If I replace the pipe and remove the snorkel, will I have to do anything to my carb???? A firm maybe is where I am at on this because you are adjusting the air intake which might mean you have to do some adjusting. If so, is there any good links that point out where you adjust the carbs at??

I don't mind adjusting but want to hold off on replacing any needles(?) until I get the freak. I hope this statement makes sense because I forgot the technical terms.

thanks in advance.

Kevin...
PS: the wife should know about midweek that I purchased pipes. Does anyone have any room in their house for me? ;-)

I don't think you will have any problems, but with no carb adjustments, you won't be realizing the full performance potential of the pipes. I don't think there is any harm in waiting until you Freak the bike, which would definitely require rejetting.

They do come with 130 main jets for the 790 engine. Don't know about the 865. Changing the mains will make quite a difference in performance with these pipes
