I just got my bike back from the dealership service department where it was having an 18 tooth front sprocket installed and the jetting adjusted as it was running rough when being driven at a steady relatively slow speed.

The new sprocket makes the bike a little more long legged and runs about 500 rpm slower at highway speed, overall I'm very happy with the change.

The jetting adjustment has smoothed out the rough running problem, but here is where my question lies. The mechanic told me they used a gas exhaust analyzer and determined that for my set up (D&D pipes, snorkel removed, K&N air filter) the proper settings are: 122.5 mains, 40 pilots w/1 shim, mixture screws- left 3 turns/right 3 1/2 turns. I have never heard of the left and right mixture screws being turned to different settings. Does anybody know if this is normal and if not, what is it a symptom of?

Absolutly... The best way to tune them is after the carbs are balanced warm the bike up and get a idle around 1000 rpm. Adjust the individual pilot screw till the revs get to there highest point then turn back the screw 1/4 turn. This is done to each carb then reset the idle. It is very unlikely both will be the same.

In the Jenks carb sheet they even mentions that the right carb needs more turn out. Sounds like you mechanic is proficient. The 18 tooth sprocket is really a better universal one than the 17.

Don't forget to recheck/reset the balance afterwards.
