So I wanted to see how long I could go using only my bike as transportation, and I would have gone longer except I had to run an errand for work that required using my car. I went a solid 7 days on the bike, riding morning noon and night. Once I get my saddlebags in, should be Tuesday, I'll be able to go longer. Luckily the weather has been good around here, it was almost 80 degrees this morning and the high is over 90 this afternoon. My car was all covered in pollen and bird sh!t. Anyone else rely on their bike for primary transportation?

I go home for lunch everyday and I have done everyday this week except for the Monday morning to work ride.

I am planning to ride the bike tomorrow from Atlanta to Athens for the annual Spring practice, we call it G-Day. It is held in the stadium and is the first real taste of college football.

Storms may come and pi$$ on my parade though.

Cool!
I hope to ride every day from now until the end of the year as long as it's not raining and is above the freezing mark (to avoid ice).

Ride my bike all the time?! What a joke. In fact, I'm lucky to get on it at all on the weekend. I can't leave the house without a kid crying for me to take him/her along. It's even difficult to leave at night because those D&D's alert my kids to their departing Daddy, which can lead to problems for my wife. Much to my disgust, my bike is primarily used for commuting.

Oh, I should add that during March and Winter the winds can easily kick up to 20-30 MPH around here, blowing scouring sand and tumbleweeds all over the place. I check the weather report every morning before I leave the house, and if the winds are supposed to be over 10 MPH, I drive the car to work.

During the summer, I usually go days at a time without touching my car.

I haven't owned a car in 5 months now, I hate the look of saddlebags so I've just been using a backpack. Except for rainy days and dust storms, I haven't missed my cage, plus I'm too ***** broke to buy anything bigger then my backpack. :-D

I ride to work every day. Pick the kids up from school, go to the store, do everything I can. This morning my wife asked me to pick her up after leaving her car at the Honda dealership and take her to work. "Sure, don't forget to take the kid's helmet." She doesn't ride - yet. Arriving at work she asked me to check DMV and see if she needed a motorcycle license endorsement to ride the little Ruckus. Hey, its a start. I was surprised how happy she was when I told her she didn't need one. Lunch time was used to pick up her car. I went the long way and enjoyed riding two up with her. She had that big smile when we got to the dealership. There might be a new bike around before long.

Riding is always preferable to driving. So far I have ridden every day since March 1. Some days only a couple of miles, but its a ride. Can't wait for the long weekend trip!

WD

I have an excuse for you to ride and take a day off work. I will be passing your way the last week of June on my way to Florida and beyond. Ya know what? I could get lost out there in Texas and get eaten by coyotes. I'll need an escort for at least a few hundred miles... :-D
