1) I am getting seepage out of both side covers on my new Scrambler. Is this something others have seen on their twins? If so, what is the fix? I am taking it to the dealer this week but a forewarning would be good.

2) I decided the bike needs the progressive springs in front which my dealer had a set in stock for a good price. I figure they are straightforward to install, any things I should watch out for?

Thanks,
Fred

I get seepage. It's from what I believe is right hand crankcase cover (the side cover on the right that's near the bottom of the bike right behind the rear brake pedal). I don't know if it's normal. I was planning on asking the same thing, or asking my mechanic when he installs a new oil pressure sender - also causing leakage but from a different place.

Yup, mine is! Even the trickle pattern looks the same

So I guess I have an "output shaft seal oil leak"? Sounds like fun. Not too expensive to fix I hope.

pigpen!

I got seepage (weeping) from the primary (left side) and sprocket (right rear) covers in under 700 miles on my T100. I washed the bike at 700 miles on the clock and it has not resurfaced in the 150 miles since washing it. I'll keep a watch on it and keep you posted. It does not bother me too much because Elvis (My Harley) always weeps from the primary! Chalk it up to character of the bike! The only thing I can think of is perhaps the covers(T100) needs to be re-torqued after a few heat cycles. I'm sure the boys on this site will provide some good info!

Yeah, I have the same problem! Going to the dealer on Friday, still under warranty!

$7 for the seal, but a SOB to install. Someone posted to install correctly, the case has to be broken open. I put one on my bike that left a few drops. Very aggravating install, you really have to find some type of drift. I buggered the soft rubber outer covering on my seal, it doesn't look pretty, but so far has been dry. Someone mentioned freezing the seal before installation. In hindsight I should tried that (also put some dielectric grease on the seal to lubricate on install).

You're sure it isn't chain lube?

I have the same problem on my T100, I just noticed it last night. I thought it might be from the chain, but I rarely oil my chain. I'd be interested to know *** it is.

NO! I cleaned the chain and the area under the cover, it is motor oil! It's hard to tell where the oil is coming from, if I put my hand under the gearchange mechanism cover (below the sprocket cover) I get oil all over my hand!
