All of my bikes have aftermarket exhaust. Between jetting and fuel injection maps and baffles and such, I thought (maybe) it was time to have just one bone stock.

So - how many of you out there have stayed with the factory exhaust?

Does it help or hurt fuel economy?

If I stay with the factory exhaust, is there anything else that I should be doing? K&N filter maybe, or AI removal?

Someone tell me what a Speedmaster sounds like with drag pipes
:hihi:

Being the cheap arse that I am, I still have the factory exhaust. But....I removed the rear baffles. The folks at Triumph made the Bonneville so quiet I could not hear the engine over the wind noise above 40 mph. I don't have a tach so this was clearly a problem. So I yanked the rear baffles and now I can hear the exhaust at all speeds but it is still not obnoxiously loud. I won't be competing with the HD's in waking napping children and setting off car alarms.

My wife is running TOR's on her T100 which, while louder than the stock pipes are certainly not gonna get her noticed by LEO. This are Triumph silencers. I ran stock pipes for several months; but I had removed the rear baffles and drilled out the remaining baffles. At least it sounded like a motorcycle.

I've got stocks on with the rear baffles removed, sounds better, but not much. I've got MotoTwin SS on order.

I am standard stock no jetting nada. Got my eyes on some Triumph short slash pipes on E bay, but if the price is not right I intend to keep THAT part of the bike standard for a few thousand miles. Hey, they're chrome already!

G'day,

I have stock. I have heard D&D's & Whitneys and they are both too loud for me. I may go foORE's after I hear them. I like the stealth aproach. Also I know that if I have noisier pipes I will ride faster and I tend to ride fast enough already. :-D

Absolutely bone stock exhaust..... for now anyway... leaving for work at 4:30am keeps me a little skittish....

Nice, Sunny 40-something° day... won't be long now for "regular" riding!!

Be safe!

My T100 is untouched. I enjoy the sound it makes and it seems to have enough power to haul by fat rear-end down the highway just fine. Heck, I still have the AI installed! The only thing I added was the Triumph backrest and a Dart flyscreen.

Other Motorcycle: Don't need another one!
My T100 is stock as far as the exhausts/motor are concerned. Can't tell if it has any effect on fuel consumption as I have nothing to compare it with - I typically get around 125 miles before switching to reserve. I will put on a pair of MotoTwin's SS reverse cones if I ever find the £375 required burning a hole in my pocket - not very likely any time soon.

It's quite nice to ride a legal bike after 3 years on a loud Ducati with Termis, not that I ever got hassled by the Police - just the neighbours!. I'll admit it sounds like a sewing machine and the rustle from the valvetrain is louder than the exhaust - ridiculous. If I ride parallel with a car on a multilane road at anything above 40mph I can't hear my bike above the roar of the car's tyres. I've got an AI kit but not got around to fitting it yet.

Paul.
