Still have not been able to get an owners manual..... what octane fuel should I run in the Speedmaster?

All of our fuel has 10% ethanol here.

Thanks

For a few cents more the Speemaster always gets the best.

91 gives me more miles per gallon which tells me the bike is running at it's peak performance.

IT's funny. My Honda VTX manual says "minimum 86 octane" and it means it. Runs the best, and best fuel mileage on the cheap stuff. Harley says 91 or higher. Runs the best on the 93 stuff, which is the same stuff we run in the R6. The Honda runs terrible on the 93 stuff and fuel mileage drops to something like 30. With 87, it runs around 45 mpg.

I'm thinking the Speedmaster has a 9.2:1 compression ratio
which is the same as my Honda....... but the Road King has 8.9:1 and requires 91 or higher.

I'm sure this makes sense to SOMEONE. Think I'll go have a beer. :-g

Thanks

I run mine on 89. I used the 91 but hte mileage went down. Can't figure that one out yet. I get no detonation and she runs just fine with the 89.

Sounds like your dealer needs to be a little more diligent. Fortunately, if you don't mind downloading a fairly large (2MB) PDF file, you can get the Speedmaster owner's manual directly from Triumph:

900.pdf

Only drawback is, the owner handbooks are presently only available on the UK branch of Triumph's Web site, so it lists the RON rating of 95, rather than the US octane rating system (which works out to 89), and all liquid capacities, power, and torque ratings are given in metric units only. Still, the book should be helpful to you in that form.

A thousand thank-you's.

Just downloaded it and it's great.

Yes, my dealer is a PITA. Still don't have all of the paperwork - they keep promising to "overnight" it, but nothing yet.

Thanks!
