Just sold my Honda ST1100 and purchased a 04 TBA . I know that this won't be able to handle the electrical garb I had on my ST. However, I'm curious as to just how much it will be able to handle. Driving lights and heated gear at the same time, out of question?
Also, I am considering adding a sissy bar and possibly floorboards to the bike. Was wondering if anyone other then Triumph makes floorboards that will fit the TBA? Like Kuryakan perhaps? Is there a special adapter that you need if so? And the sissy bar triumph makes seems like quite a bit as well, but if there isn't any other alternative I'm willing to go ahead with it.
Thanks for your help!
~Joe

Not sure about the electrics, although I think they can handle the heated clothing....

I CAN help with the pegs/floorboards though...This place (Hermy's) sells Kuryakan stuff and the nessacary adapters, just scroll down a little. I think they are much cheaper than Triumph brand stuff, and there are a lot more choices...

Pegs and stuff

Your alternator is rated at 27A @ 14 Volts. Add up your wattages and divide by 12 to get the amps. You also need to leave enough for the engine electrics--don't know how much but I would figure a few amps. Your lights (worst case--headlight high beam+ stop + taillight + 2 signal lights) add up to 106 watts (about 9 amps). If it were me, I would probably limit my add-ons to 12 amps total (144 watts).

Thanks for the input! I was beginning to wonder if everything "had to be Triumph" aftermarket wise. Was also a bit worried about my farkle habit with electronics. I realize I'm not going to have all the electronics I did on the ST..but I do have a tendency to over do it and just wanted to be more aware of just how much is too much before finding out on my own.
Thanks again!! ~Joe

Check with "JJ" over on BonnevilleAmerica.com. He's the requisite long distance tourer in the bunch. (Iron Butt award, rode VA to Vegas and back in four days this fall). He has all kinds of heated gear and electronics, spare gas tanks on his America. He should be able to give you some good advice and don't recall him complaining about having to run a minimal load. Plus he's a local DC/NOVA guy. I don't think he follows this forum.

Thanks Al.. I'll definitely check out the forum and try hunting down jj to ask him what he thinks. What part of hagerstown are you from? We're all the time riding out your way and on many occassions we swing off to watch the drag races on our way back home. You'll have to come ride with us sometime if you're up to it.

I live in Williamsport, right between 81 & 70 (off Rt. 11 as well). I ride occasionally with the Baltimore RAT group, great bunch of guys. Give me a shout if coming up in this area. I saw the Winchester VA open house is April 22nd, definitely have that on the list (about an hour from my house).
