I just bought a 06 Speedmaster and it looks like it is leaking oil as well, I heard it might be cozolene? which I guess is used as a protectant fluid when shipping that gets burned off, either way it smells like oil and it smokes a bit, anybody experience this with a brand new speedmaster? :???:

River_ride,

I notice you are from Redonddo Beach. Where did you buy your Speedie?

Fellas,
I've got an 05 Speedy. Haven't seen a drop of oil, even when I overfilled it a little. These machines should be sealed up pretty good, not like their forerunners where a pool of oil after riding was normal. This should be a warranty fix for seals, tighten connections, or possibly just didn't get a thorough dealer prep, especially if it still has the cosmolene on the engine. Cosmolene should have all been removed by the dealer and polished up during prep.

"wait in line, like everyone else". I can understand "wait in line" but they should still let you know about how long the line is.

Good luck,
Richard

Mine still oozes oil out of odd places. Have gone over the bike a couple times with a soft brush and WD-40 and got most of the gunk off. Still, every few hundred miles more shows up.

No, it doesn't leave oil on the basement floor. Although - the oil filler cap was very slightly loose for a time. The oil would make its way down the right side, then underneath then drip on the kick stand side. It looked worse than it was. You know, a little bit of oil just about everywhere, especially after driving it down the highway.

Other than that, haven't found any leaks.
