I fear this may be a bit problematic, but I've been putting it off long enough:

Does anybody have a line on where I may look to find a front wheel and/or down-tubes for a standard Bonneville?

My other question would be:
If my front hub is in good shape, is there ANY advantage to be gained by having a 17" or 18" front wheel laced to it? And in turn, are there any disadvantages to altering the factory wheel size?

I have happened onto a BonnieBlack that needs a little attention, and would greatly appreciate it if anybody knows of any salvage sites for New Bonneville parts.

Advantage of a smaller front wheel is a little faster turning, disadvantage is a little less stability. For every one inch you decrese the rim size you also lower the front of the bike 1/2 inch. 18 inch front is the standard size for Thruxton, so don't see why it would be any problem with the Bonnie.

Occasionally wheels are on sale on e-bay.

Dude,a 17 in the front will open up a whole new world of tires.Even an 18 opens up way more tire options. Put a steering dampener on to compensate for the loss in stability.

I was looking at the specks Pat.
Bonneville Black
1. Length of bike, 2230mm or 87.8 in.
2. Rake, 28 degrees
3. Trail, 110mm.
4. Wheel base, 59.1 in or 1500mm

Thruxton
1. 2150 or 84.6in.
2. 27 degrees.
3. 97mm.
4. 56.7in or 1490mm.
Maybe if you put a whole Truxton front end on there the triple clamps could change your rake and trail but I'm not sure. What about a springer? :-D :-D :chug:
