Hello All.

I also posted this in the general forum.

I am buying my first Triumph which is also my first motorcycle.

I am going to get a new Bonneville or a Bonneville T100. I am having a hard time figuring out what I should be paying for either bike.

I have three questions:

1. Does anyone have an idea what either model should sell for after bargaining?
2. Or is there a rule of thumb for % off of MSRP?
3. Can anyone recommend a dealer in Phoenix and/or Flagstaff?

I would really appreciate any advice. I am going into this a bit blindly and quickly.

Thanks very much.

Mike

You may get a lot of conflicting advice on this because there seem to be no real rules here, only individual experience, which varies quite a bit. I can only tell you what I paid. I bought a new 2005 T100 at the end of last March. I paid $300 less than MSRP. My state sales tax of 8.5% was based on that amount, less a reasonable trade-in for a 12-year old Yamaha. I did not pay anything for set up or delivery, and from my experience, it is on this item that dealers vary. A dealer in NC had added $400 extra to the Triumph MSRP for these things to get to their final price. It has been my impression that Triumph sets the MSRP to include all such fees, but dealers know that many buyers are not aware of that policy and add the fees. Then the buyer feels good when they bargain and get this amount taken off. I was charged $45 for the dealer to take care of registering the vehicle with the state department of motor vehicles, a temp tag, a permanent tag, and a title. That was reasonable and in line with auto dealers around here.

This appears to vary from dealer to dealer around the country...

If you can find a 2005 (or 2004!) you may be able to swing a better deal. Go to a couple of different dealers and see what they'll do for you.
Good luck and have fun!

I got mine in Tucson. It was a 2004 still on the floor in July 2005 so the guy dropped a grand off the MSRP. Then he tried to add it back on with setup, crating and all sorts of other BS. I had to walk out twice before I got him to drop all the bull. The salesman dropped the charges himself which tells me they aren't serious. So I guess my advice would be to start looking for new 2005s and get them to waive all the extra fees.

Hi Mike,

You might also consider a low mileage secondhand specimen.

I have also just bought a T100 as my first bike, it was less than a year old with only 1200 miles on the clock. It came with TORs and a Renntec rack for £800 less than a new model.

It's also worth asking your dealer whether they can release their demo bike, these can be good value. When I asked a dealer not far from me, they contacted Triumph and offered me a red/black T100 demo for the same price as a new std bonnie.

Andy
